When I bought this bike, I didn't notice this sound but shortly after I brought it home I noticed a small fork seal leak on the left fork. Bought a seat-mate and cleaned it out, no problems. Or so I thought. Now I have this "airy" (best way I can describe it) but doesn't seem to affect performance. Any input would be wonderful.

Thanks for any advice.

Listened to the clip. It sounds like your fork is farting passing gas. I've got nuttin to suggest about where the noise is coming from. Maybe fork oil trapped under the dust seal is helping create the noise?

2Fun--that's exactly what it sounds like! Just like my dog farting!

Maybe I should clean the seals again.....thanks!

What you see on top of the fork is the dust seal, under that is the real oil seal and oil seal clip. The dust seal doesn't normally survive being removed.

Actually, the dust seal is easy to pop off and press back in place. It is a pretty loose fit. You must remove the dust seals to be able to clean the seal with a sealate.

I think what ionbeam is thinking of is the fork "protectors". Which are those upper most gizmos that stick up from the lower fork leg and help protect the inner tube from stones or grit blasting. Those are not easy to replace

Lose enough fork oil to be running air through the dampers? That would be pretty damn low, but..... how much oil you gots?
