All the miles out of this tire

A little scared last night when we went to change this tire. Last 2/32 disappeared between Portland and Yuba City, 500 miles.

Is that the replacement Avon Storm 15,000 mile warranty tire? How many miles did you get out of this one?

I recently had one that did just a little worse than yours - it went away much faster than I expected. Yours at least has a veneer of rubber covering the cord...

I dunno. I don't get it. Why do you guys do this kind of thing? Are you all trying to be SkooterG?

The last few miles the tire vaporizes at a much faster rate. Why not ditch the thing after you get down past the wear bars?

I mean I can see this happening once in a while when you get stuck out on the road, but just trying to one-up the other guys for how far you can get into the steel belt is just stupid.

It was not intentional by any means (and I don't disagree about it being stupid to wait anywhere near that long). In my case, it was while doing some local riding, waiting (a few days) for my tire order to arrive. One day it looked OK and the next was a "Holy Shit!" moment. You are right about the last bit vaporizing rapidly!

John was at my place on May 24-25. His tire looked good then.

About 8500 miles on This Avon Storm. JREW was kind enough to give me a PR2 with plenty of life left to get me home.

I tried to get tires in Portland but every place I went on Saturday either didn't have what I needed in stock or were too busy to handle me. Still had nearly 2/32 in Portland, it was a dumbshit stunt. I usually are on the side of caution.
