Anyone notice that Dom Emde quit the AMA yesterday...talking about things going from bad to worse....what next?....maybe sanctioning traction control systems in U.S. superbike racing......please....the last thing they need is to become as boring as F1....

Randy I understand...but then when your start adding all the electronic controls....you take rider ability out of the equation....which would mean any monkey could go fast....& isn't watching a riders skill level on a bike on the track (average bike...better rider )(taking 6th place bike to 2nd or 3rd place) great to watch....

yes and no. yes, you're taking the ability of giving the bike enough throttle to put you right on that edge of losing traction. however, if you go into a real tight turn at 180mph, traction control or not, you're gonna end up on your head. and if you go into that same turn and miss your brake markers, traction control isn't going to stop you from tucking the front and hitting the deck. there are many skills that are still required.

there is traction control on motogp bikes and rider ability still plays a major role.

I concur....but I personally hate giving up a skill set to technology....I guess I will always believe the rider can make the difference (Rossi's leaving Honda over that is a prime example)....that's why as much as I like the latest abs...I won't have it unless I can turn it on & off....I've ridden 44 yrs this year....polishing & honing my threshold braking skill set...I'm proud of that & not willing to give it up....(hey I'm old....what the f@#k do I know)

Recently Valentino Rossi has been doing test drives for Ferrari F-1 team. Lots of rumors floating around that he would be joining them next year.

Either this week or last he finally said that he would NOT be joining Ferrari and one of the reasons was that F1 cars no longer allow the driver to display or use their skills due to the technology involved. He did not feel that he could put his personality into driving the car like he can with a bike. he specifically said that he didn't like having the engineers talking to him while he was driving and telling him what he could and couldn't do.

Others believe that because it looks like Michael Schumaker will be staying and there is much talk about Kimi Raikonnen becoming a Ferrari driver - that Rossi would have been delegated to test driver - certainly not a number 1.

Even though Rossi would have been a rookie- - I don't think he would have been too happy as a test driver or even a number 2 with the big team.
