I'm sorry iwily that you do not have the knowledge of the design and chemical engineering of oils. I simply put the URL to Amsoil so people on this site could go there, look at the comparisons, and make their own mind up on the oil they use for their FJR. I do not mind paying more for the oil I put in my FJR. We all know how important oil is to maintain the best life of an engine.

Do the research as I have done and reply with good reasons not to use this product instead of a simple bashing of someones reply.

KR,

Err, I don't know how to break this to you, but you've just pinned a humungoloid bullseye on your back. I personally don't mind if you own stock in Amsoil, but when Jestal gets here, you will rue the day you purchased that stock and the day you turned shill.

I almost feel guilty being the one to tell a relative noob to try the search engine, but since you brought up SPAMSOIL I'll say that this has been discussed ad nauseum in previous threads.

AMSOIL is probably just as good as other premium oils, but the price is higher and, more importantly for me, the amount of spamming done about the stuff over the years is very annoying and that is the reason I will never spend money on it.

Bingo. Me and my Shell Rottella T will live happily ever after.

Do some searches for posts by member "jestal." Oh, and he is an engineer.

The Amsoil "research" is just a thinly disguised infomerical. There are no good independent tests that show Amsoil to be a better oil. I'm sure it is a fine oil, but don't confuse liberally-distributed propoganda put out by all the retailers in Amsoil's pyramid marketing scheme with research.

Back to the original question, I'd view Pennzoil's claims of "reforming" skeptically. That doesn't mean it isn't a good oil and there may be some incremental technical advancement happening, but oil is pretty much oil these days, all the quality oils are quite good, and I'm skeptical that a major advancement in oil chemistry has been made, at least based on their ads.

Most all "synthetic" oils are a rip off in one way or another. Amsoil with it's pyramid marketing scam and just about all the major oil companies that market crap as "synthetics" when in fact they're nothing more than group III petroleum oil. At least Amsoil is an actual group IV PAO synthetic and you can buy direct at pretty close to dealer cost nowdays. If you do a little homework and find the very few other group IV and group V oils available for motorcycles you'll find they cost the same as or more than Amsoil. If you buy into the synthetic thing, well, you get what you pay for and you're not gonna get a group IV or V for less than about $5 / quart. I like Amsoil because it passes the 1999 Chevy Prizm oil filler cap test, it's a highly scientific method by which all oils are rated  With amsoil the under side of the cap is always sparkling clean no matter how long I forget to change the oil  With any other oil it's covered with ugly brown varnish within 3000 miles. And with Amsoil I get to brag not only about how much I spent but how much I could have spent on oil! I tell ya I get wood just thinking about it

Here I Go Again being this is such a hot topic.

I have used ___OIL for the past 21 years. ___OIL has been produced since 1972. Way before the other synthetic oils.

I have a 1991 Explorer that has 324000 miles on it and stills runs great.

I changed everything except the transmission to ___OIL in my 07 Tundra and now get 2.4 MPG better mileage.

I used ___OIL in my motorcycles past and current.

These are independent sites you may want to visit to gain a great deal of knowledge about synthetic oils.

Last I promises I will not talk about any kind of oil again on this site.

Not really hot. The fact it's in NEPRT means that it's....well....pretty much pointless. And the fact every one of the links you provided includes a sales pitch for Amsoil....well I guess I have to remind myself.....

...wait...I'll split the topic since recent discussion drifted off anyway.

Don't be sorry krouske!! Your correct, I don't have a chemical enginering degree, nor do I want one. What I do have is a keen sense of when I'm being ripped off told a bunch of ********.

OK, I'm done with my research and one good reason to not use Amsoil: Price and the annoying Amway like sales people like youself that sell it!!
