It seems that the recent whining and bitching about what a bunch of a-holes and dicks we are here on this forum is in keeping with the rest of the 'net. All of you that think the Internet is supposed to be some kind of politically correct shelter for the easily offended should take a look at this article. Be sure to focus on the comments about death threats and sexually graphic threats. I don't recall any of that here on FJRforum.com, do you? As has been suggested here many times before, I think we're above board here and pretty civil overall. Those who can't handle the load, please feel free shut the hell up and shift your time and effort to one of the 'virtual support communities' that are discussed in this article.

Read all about it...

BTW, this was the lead front page story in the print version of USA Today for July 31.

People "forget that there are real people reading what they write," Newmark says.
If you wouldn't say it to thier faces, don't bother saying it at all. My view on it anyway.

Interesting read GunMD

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I'm a whiner and I'm still here...

I just wish that the media would go back to what they are for, IMO, and report the news, not try to make the news. Just how much "Dirty Laundry" can we take (apparently way more than I'm willing to put up with). I no longer watch the evening news (and rely on the newpapers; at least I can skip the crap I don't what to read about). Guess I'm getting cranky and cynical in my old (late middle :) ) age.

I find this board great.

Years ago I was a regular poster on the newsgroup alt.rec.motorcycles. It was literally impossible for anyone to post a question or answer without 30% of the response being all-out assaults on the person posting -- and i mean the closest thin to death threats-- it was crazy.

The light-hearted comments here a walk in the park.

as you say-- we should appreciate what we have.

I don't even go to any of the other forums anymore, as here seems to be the only place a person can express themselves straight up. So what if someone gets on your case or you take something the wrong way. You can always go to PM and discuss it without involving the whole group. Not only that, but a difference of opinion is much better than everyone just following the crowd.

I'll stop whining if you'll give me the keys to your Viper, MD...

Not actually my Viper. I had the opportunity to flog drive it a few times. The owner totalled it before it even had permanent license plates. I kept the avatar as a sort of memorial to the car.

Think it's rough here? Don't check out any IRCs then, they can be pretty brutal.

I love it here. Usually quite civil. When it's not, I know how to close the browser and go for a ride.

ALWAYS puts things back in perspective. :D
