An interesting comparison...maybe for sport riders only?

It occured to me today as I traveled round my local exit ramp from the motorway, that I have a comfort limit on that particular bend.

In the car it's somewhere between 50-60, (the limit is 70) a speed that I usually do when the road is clear and the weather is dry. I have used this stretch countless times and know it intimately.

Whenever I use the bend on the bike my missis is on the back and it's at the end of a day out and I am usually just looking forward to parking up and having a rest, so I usually don't push it at all.

As I came round the bend today in the car, a thought passed through my mind that if I was on a bike (solo and in the dry), I would feel as though I was going slow and would want to be going faster and would be tempted to get the thing right over. Next time I get chance I will try it out solo, and, without being silly, see if I do go round 10mph faster.

Try it yourself, when in the car and going at speed round a nice bend, imagine that you are on the bike and see if it feels slow.

While "handling" is a subjective term (good/better/best often rests with the rider as much as the bike), cornering performance can be measured (time/speed and "G"s) and good high-performance cars (well driven) often out-perform motorcycles -- especially yellow Dodge Vipers.....!

Handling is subjective...

But I would say that I drive my car (a 07 Miata) nearer to the "extreme limits" than I do my bike , most of the time.

Cars always feel "slower" to me than a bike ..no matter how fast I am going. 50 ina car feels like I am not even moving at times...50 on a bike feels faster because you are more exposed and can see the ground under you.

I do realize that many times going into a corner in the Miata.. I am actualy going slower than I would on my bike ( or it may just seem that way).. ..it does not feel strange, as I am going pretty fast for a car.

I get more tickets in cars BTW.

My "need for speed" is one of the many reasons I love motorcycles........

Strange.......

I'm completely opposite.

I feel I'm going slower on the bike than in a car.

Must be my stigmatism
