To try and find parts for. But every once in a while.... Crank seals for my 'ol Zook have been out of production for ages, at least 20 years, and are impossible to find. Many builders have seal holders machined, and use available seals with the right ID to fit. Some have gone so far as to find good known still sealing used cranks and have transplanted them in to build a usable motor. But theres a guy on the east coast by the name of Paul Miller who appears to have, like Ticket Master, bought any and all of the worlds supply of vintage Zook parts and buried 'em in a hole someplace, doling them out a tiny bit at a time. He's well known in the restore community for being THE source for the rarest of the rare (word is he built Jay Leno's X6). Well, for a hunnert beans, I have a full set of crank seals (4), shift shaft, kick shaft, and countershaft (output) seals, all brand new NOS Zook. I estimate it was gonna cost me a couple hundred bucks just for the left side seal alone by the time I was done, the center crank seals weren't even on the radar yet :glare: Sometimes I just fall into **** and come out clean as a whistle.......
