No guesses here & I'm sure there's a lot of openions on this but does anybody know for sure? I'm like SkooterG & tend to let sleeping dogs lie. My TPS recall experiance wasn't a good one. The bike came back with a choppy idle.

Lesson learned - If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

At least in the auto industry a recall is good for the life of the vehicle. I would think that motorcycles are under the same government regulations as autos.

Why don't you call and ask, then get back to us?
My letter says it's related to vehicle safety, and gives instructions of what to do if you aren't satisfied with the outcome of the fix. I don't see any reason to put if off myself.

Randy, can you provide the verbiage used by Yammy in your letter regarding "what to do if you aren't satisfied...", even though I am very confident that my service guy will fix my bike to my expectations?

I'm the second owner of my '03 and didn't get a letter, but would like to know what my options are none the less. The bike was taken in yesterday for the TPS recall and to address my "excessive exhaust valve guide" problem, aka "ticker". :glare: :assassin:

After 2 years and 22,000+ miles of great ridding and normal maintance the bike was running great. I had noticed a little bit of a rough idle and had narrowed the problem to the TPS. Had the TPS replace yesterday. The bike now runs even bettter than before - guess I just got use to the great , but slightly reduce, feeling of the FJR. The bike was not broken but is fixed now.

The PDF copy of the recall notice runs on my Windows 2000 with IE 6.0 and Adobe ver. 6.0 (probably at least two revs out of date). I have to go home if I need to use a PC that is up to date If it runs on my machine it should run on any up to date Windows machine.

To all those sitting on the fence: My '03 displayed typical bad tps symptoms often while riding in the country, especially when hot. But, the one that really got me was; while riding in inner-city traffic I waited at a red light -- when the light turned green I accellerated into traffic. Just underway, the tps (apparently?) hit a "dead spot" causing the engine to die -- not a nice thing to have happen :blink: .Because of this one experience (besides the just general nuisance of a bad tps) I'd recommend getting it done.
