I know they're not quite as large as an elk, or even a deer, but those bastards can't sting you. Yes. I've earned an oak leaf cluster on my bee sting logo. The last one flew down my shirt and got me "center mass." Made it pretty exciting, coming to a stop and all. But this guy, I don't know if I overtook him as he was flying down the road about neck-high, or if he was flying toward me backwards, but I felt him hit me and sting me at exactly the same instant. I've got this ugly swelling on my neck that looks like I've got a damn goiter. (I considered attaching a picture of somebody with a goiter, but out of respect for all of you, I didn't. But if you want to ruin your nest meal--and your last--type "goiter" into Google and then click "Images." Ew.

So stay ATGATT, everybody. Especially your necks. You just never know.

Here's the SacramentoMike-approved Bee Guard. And it allows for California-legal hands-free cell phone use.

I feel your pain. I seem to be a critter magnet myself, from deer to June bugs. Came through Mt Baker Nat'l Park two days ago and got smacked right over my right eye bye a hummingbird. Hardly felt a thing since the poor bastard hit my sunglasses but the sound scared the nectar out of me! I cant stand driving with my plastic visor down as I love the fresh air on my face and since switching to a modular helmet I find myself all too often driving with it open. But, I always have eye protection on as - like anyone here knows, you always get something in the eye when you least expect it. Although, I do find myself breaking my own rule around sunset when sunglasses are too dark. Cant imagine what the beak of a hummingbird would do to an eye. Guess that little event was an "eye-opener" reminder.

Several years ago before I had the FJ or a modular helmet, I got a bat lodged between my temple and helmet. I must have looked like I was having an epileptic seizure to other drivers.

I always wear a neck gater for that reason, in the summer I have a very thin one so I don't get too hot.

But the SacMike model will also protect you from hummingbirds.

Those suckers could give you a tracheotomy you don't even want.

This is exactly why I could never ride wearing shorts! Might as well be a butterfly net! A big yellow jacket going to work down there could ruin your day!

1980 ish. Young Steve is riding down the hwy at about 70mph and see's the worlds biggest bee approaching head on. It is about to commit a murder/suicide. Young Steve swerves, Bee is on a mission from Allah.

Young Steve takes a hit, full force, ass first, right dead center between his eyes.

"I'm not crying"

I looked like Manimal for a couple of days after that one.

Wimps.

Real men wear doo rags and take lil' ol' pissy ant stings in stride!

Me, I'm a Candy Butt Association dude and hate getting stung, it messes up my Botox injections..
