Good day.

I've been lurking for a month or so fighting cabin fever and researching my next bike purchase. It's been entertaining absorbing the wealth of information on this site. For me it's the common queston, ST1300 or FJR?. Considering there's about 600 hours worth of reading on the topic I won't make my second post, "what's the difference - ST1300 VS FJR". Admittedly the valve guide issue bothered me, followed closely by the possibility of excessive heat, and rounded out with wind turbulence. Those concerns have been quieted enough for me to be ready for FJR ownership. A price has been struck with a local dealership and a 2006 A model located. The paperwork should be completed this week when I will happily join the list of waiters.

My thanks to those responsible for maintaining this forum. It's well organized and a good place to spend some time reading when I'm not snowblowing and shovelling.

Yeah, welcome ya hey dere...good on ya.

Got any back bacon next ta dat snowblower, eh? :D

Good day eh!

Welcome fellow Canadian....as well an person from my home Province

Vave guide problem.... My opinon is either yours ticks or it doesn't.

Excessive heat.... yes she is warm but if you stay out of stop and go traffic and don't wear shorts.

Wind turbulance.... I personally don't find it bad.

What I like is the sporty feel. Mine is a 04 that I bought in the fall of 03 (new) and I have 61,000kms on it.

Welcome bobby,

Hey we live in Canada....what the f*ck is the problem with extra heat. Think of it as a bonus to extend the riding season. :) I rode down tot he southern US this past summer and it was hot but not so hot I didn't enjoy the ride.

I am with huron on the sporty feel. I cam from cruisers so the FJR is as sporty as I have been.

Did you dealer tell you how long you can expect to wait?

Na I don't think heat is such a bad thing, especially around here. I had a SprintST and it was labeled extremely hot ... never bothered me. I wear gear, suppose that helps. With the extended warranty if the guides wear they'll get fixed. The dealer acknowledged that some have that problem so if it happens to me there shouldn't be any difficulty getting their backing. As for sporty my last two bikes have been pure sport bikes. I can use a little less corner speed. :) Plus at the risk of sounding like a sap my wife is my best bud and I want to have the option of having her with me.

Oh and wheaton, never been a big back bacon fan. I'm known more for beer consumption. :bleh:

I'll post when I find out when the expected delivery date is.

Thanks for the welcome.

Small world, Constance Bay's just around the corner.

California is definately one state I've always wanted to visit. Just give me some time to get into distance shape.

BTW I put my $500 down today. My pickup date is April 15th or sooner. Dealer expects them in March.

Another Canuck sending his welcome Bobby. I'm in Regina now, but have lived in AB, BC, and was born in ON. Even spent a few years in Pembroke just up the Valley from you when I was younger. You WILL love this bike!
