Found out my brother-in-law died yesterday in a motorcycle accident. LINK

Has people pretty shook up around here. He has two young children, who I feel for. Now my wife is freaking because I ride everyday whether it's on asphalt or dirt. Kind of has me re-evaluating the style in which I enjoy riding in. Guess I can say, at least he died doing something he loved.

Tried posting this in another area, but did not have permission.

sorry to hear about that, especially because of the kids. I sure hope this is a reminder for you all to have a will and life insurance.

-be safe

My condolences to your family.

IMO, we all should learn to ride a little safer every time we ride.

That blows and hits close to home. I rode that exact area in a rally in 2007. Beautiful area.

My condolences to you, and your family. For sure, he died doing something he loved because that road is beautiful on any bike. I know it well.

I agree that constant re-evaluation is a good thing. How much risk do I want to take today? What is it worth to me? If we ever stop thinking that way, it's time to get off the bike for good. You may remember (or not) that my DH was very seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident, almost two years ago. Many people thought that he, and I, should give up riding. We made a deeply thought out choice NOT to give up a pastime that brings us a lot of pleasure. At the same time, we both renewed our efforts to minimize the risks that we can control.

My condolances . The writer of that story sure did not say much about the accident.

He was so young to leave, life was just beginning for him and family...

So sad....

...sorry for your loss.

If it is in your soul to ride...like it is in mine...there is no choice to stop. Just time to reflect and evaluate.

Very sorry to hear this FJamR. I guess if we gave in to the reality of risk and stopped riding, that would also be a form of death. Prayers from here.

Really sad news, hits home real hard when kids are that young.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. We have all had the experience of having to reflect on what riding means to us and whether it is worth it. Some of us even have taken breaks in riding until our heads are on straight -- take the time you need. But in the end the loss has to be heavy for you and your family, and I am very sorry you have to endure this. Prayers sent.

FJamR,

Very sorry to hear about your Brother in law. Too sad and Too soon.

Thoughts and prayers,
