So often we here about poor service from dealers I felt obligated to post this.

My 2006 Concours just wasn't doing it for me and after years of lusting for the FJR I just had to have one.

I purchased my FJR from Al at Antigo Yamaha in Antigo WI. in September 2009. It was a left over 08AE with full warranty for under $10,000.00 plus T&L. Knowing I could get the 4 year Y.E.S. from D&H for $398.00 at the time(Thanks to FJR Forum) I presented this price to Al. Although he did not meet the exact price it was within $50.00 and I was happy with that to support a local dealer and business.

For the first time in my life I decided I did not want to do the servicing on one of my vehicles. I will change the oil and some basic items but just did not want to deal with the rest right now. I have the tools and knowledge to do most anything but this time I just wanted someone else to do it. Risky I know but in this case it has been worth it.

Antigo Yamaha has done the 4,000, 8,000 and just this week 12,000 mile service. In fact I just returned from the 12,000 service. After several services and dealings with both sales and service I can say these guys are the real deal. Every interaction with them has been superb and every commitment they have made has been fulfilled and then some.

I took the bike in last Saturday and dropped if off along with the PR2 tires I got from Derby Cycles back in January I think (I didn't ask Al about tires because I saw it on the last day of the sale and did not want to miss out). I left the bike for the week as my schedule usually does not allow me to pick it up during the week. This works out well because they have plenty of time to service it. They performed the service and included a rear drive oil change wich I don't think is required at 12,000,(don't feel like looking it up)installed the PR2 tires and washed it for under $350.00. Yes, they washed it. It was not professionally detailed but it looked a lot better coming out than when it went in.

To answer your next question, yes, they had received the ground joint connection (spider) recall. I did not ask or mention the recall when I dropped it off because I am going on a two week trip shortly and did not want the bike held hostage for a new wiring harness if needed. Well, they knew about the recall, had the sub-harness in stock, saw no signs of over heating of the spider in the recall so installed the Yamaha sub-harness fix.

Note: The service manager did infer, if it needed the new harness rather than the sub-harness they could not releaase the bike until the job was completed. I can only assume that because this is an NHTSA mandated safety recall they would have no choice but to hold the bike for liability reasons. If it were a simple Yamaha service bulletin this may not be the case.

If your ever near Antigo WI. and need something for your FJR I would highly recommend them. They also sell Polaris. Hmmmmmm, RZR Maybe?

Oh and for those that are laughing at 12,000 miles in two years, that is actually only about 1.2 years in midwest riding time. :p

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Antigo Yamaha or its employess other than being a satisfied customer.

Sorry to be so long winded but I felt this dealership desreved it.

Thanks

Greg
