Guys,

I will be heading out very early from Pasco Wa to Medford, OR tomorrow and was wondering if there is any good camping sites that are FJR friendly along the way. I know that there is a KOA in Klamath Falls but wouldn't mind eveyones thoughts and suggestions. My route is still undesided but looks like i might just take the road from Biggs juction to bend then down around carter lake and then into Medford. Any better routes? I would like to make Medford before 4pm. Thanks for the time.

Don't camp. Spend the day on your FJR, enjoying the road. You should be able to make that distance in a day.

OTOH, if you're up to it, just hit up a barren space on US forest service land and pitch it in the wild. You'll be void of RV noise.

Here's a route for you (feel free to stop at any nice place along the way to pitch your tent).

Drop a note to FJRay before you leave and buy him a cup-o-joe as you pass through La Pine on 97.

97 south to Crater Lake (turnoff at Hwy 138). Go through park, see great sights before the snow covers it all up next month.

South out of park then a right on to Hwy 62.

Follow 62 (it joins in with 230) down through the small towns of Prospect, Shady Cove, Eagle Point and White City before arriving in Medford.

There's three state parks between Prospect and Shady Cove. Pick the one you like, pay the state fee and camp. They'll even let you use their toilets.

When you're done with your business in Medford get on I-5 south to Ashland and take Hwy 66 (Green Springs Hwy) over to Klamath Falls. You'll be treated to some most excellent twisties as you climb towards the summit and Hyatt Reservoir. I suspect the snow that was there in March this year is now gone. PICTURE. Be sure to get a bite to eat at the Green Springs Inn at the summit.

After Klamath Falls you may think about heading over towards 395 to get home. Much more fun than 97.
