I'm getting ready to order another set of Avons for my '04 FJR and a set of Metzeler's for my '87 GL1200. Last year, I ordered my last set of Avons for the FJR from Southwest Moto Tires as well as another set for my GSXR and couldn't find any place that beat their prices. I can get the Avons for $97.95 front and $131.95 rear DELIVERED. Anyone found another mail order supply house that can beat Southwest's prices???

I just paid $137.59 shipped for a rear Avon from Sunnyside. It was cheaper than SWMoto due to the fact that they only offer free shipping if you buy a pair. So, I saved a hundred bucks. The tire was $127.95 + $9.64 shipping and it came very well packaged. I like to patronize the good guys and sometimes it's worth a little more to support FJR-friendly vendors. I'm going to keep the Pirelli on the front since it still has gobs of tread. The rear was hard to gauge, since there's no tread in the middle to start with. I can't imagine any problems with running two different brands at the same time. I really like the Pirelli front tread pattern and it seems to hold the road quite well. Time will tell how well the Avon rear holds up. The installer wasn't overly pleased to see it on his counter, grumbling something about balancing issues...

I know that Dennis Kirk will beat them by $1 per tire. That's where I've been getting tires for years from.

SW Moto user, here. I like the free shipping on a pair of tires. I usually replace in pairs, anyway, so it suits me fine.

I checked the Southwest Moto Tires prices for the Avons and Metzelers I mentioned above against the other suggested mail order vendors, along with a couple of others I located. If you are buying two or more tires, no question about it, Southwest Moto Tires has the best prices by far because of their free shipping policy. If you're buying only one tire, some of the others are cheaper. I'll stick with Southwest.
