I was wondering if anybody is thinking about riding through the N. GA mountains this long weekend (holiday). Pehaps we can meet in the morning at some pre-designated area on Ga 400 and do a sweet half day ride (morning through afternoon, be back before dark kinda thing). I will be watching for volunteers.

I was planning to ride Wayah Rd to 19 to 28 to Deals gap and back. I usually don't ride the gap but stop at the resort and hang out/take a break/enjoy the show and head back. We could meet where 60 meets 400 at Tooseys (not there anymore I think) at 7am. This will give plenty of time to ride and enjoy the ride up w/o traffic/squids/police, take breaks and get home by dark.

I ride "brisk"usually 10-20 over and manage to do it in the right places avoiding tickets and trouble.

I already told my wife I want one day to ride this weekend and just need to let her know what day. Let me know what you think. I may have a few others would join us.

I am planning to ride (with passenger) in the forest areas from North Georgia, TN and up in NC around Deals Gap, 28, Franklin, Highlands, etc. I'm taking the FJR and will be staying in Hiawassee. I love those roads but will be riding a bit slower since I will have a pillion in tow. This will be the first time in that area for me on an FJR, however, I have done it on other bikes and vehicles. :)

Hope to see some of you guys up there!!

Change of plans.

My front Z6 is crap with 6k on the bike and has been since 5k when I replaced the rear with a Metzler ME880, I should have replaced the front as well (I'm going to a 880 front next week).

I've got a nice wobble and not-so-good cornering/handling. I'll stick with replaceing both together as I always have.

I may do a shorter ride Sunday around north GA, maybe even avoid all the weekenders and ride backroads to Athens from Winder to Starbucks for ice coffee.

I took the FJR out for a front tire test ride this morning and lots of police/traffic.

Watch for drunks

2200 wrecks/20 deaths predicted for GA this weekend (why I usually don't ride during holidays).

Be safe,

Steve

Steve,

I don't know, you tell me if you feel confortable riding with the tire and traffic as is. If is really early and short I might do it tomorrow. Better yet, should I say, I will request my kitchen pass and go alone. Let me know so I can plan ahead.
