I own a DL1000 along with my FJR.

Just wondering how many others have had the same pleasure.

The Vstrom is a different animal, but just as awsome in it's own tall ugly way. Both blue of course. :D

DL650AK7. 1,500 miles to date (Who the hell invented work?). Pat Walsh crash bars and skid pan, Fenda Extenda, Hepco-Becker center stand, Powerlet, Power Dist. plate, 2 Ram Balls for GPS and RD (with applicable wiring harnesses for both), Widder connection - all installed. Coming next month: Bill Mayer Saddle, that windscreen gizmo-thingy, grip guards and puppies and Givi 36/46 side cases/top box. Finally, I'll have a heart-to-heart with Klaus over a beer or twelve at WFO to see what I can do about a Wilbers setup for the suspenders.

Feejer/Weejerman, you're next...

O.K. let me begin. Wee K7

Looking to add electrosport stator and maybe thid's aux. lighting, suspension upgrade front and rear by "AfterShocks"

A little over a 1000 miles, two oil and filter changes. I am glad I chose the Wee over the V. Quiet air, better than the FJR, and very comfortable riding position. All this bolted right up with no problems even for a moron mechanic like me.

Mike in Fremont, Ca. Oh and I am loaning the Wee to Dale Walker for a exhaust upgrade and he will use a TFI instead of a PCIII. Coming sometime in May or June.

Oh, my! I have some catching up to do! Let me know how that ES stator works out. This bike will need auxiliary lighting...

I'm looking for a used 04-06 DL650 (WeeStrom) in the Southwest right now. If anybody knows/hears of one, please let me know back channel. I'd like to try this dirt/gravel road thing.

I decided against the 07s because you can't do the TBS yourself (unless of course you buy Suzuki's special tool set that costs $670). And the 07s are have less horsepower are a bit heaver and have slower acceleration. Now don't shoot the messenger. This is what I've learned from researching on the V-Strom forums.

Wife lets me ride her Wee-Strom when I'm nice to her.

Has a set of factory heated grips & guards. I put a set of Givi engine guards & a SW-Motech centre-stand on it.

The windshield sucks & should really be replaced. Have not felt the need to add risers any time soon but it may make it a bit more comfortable for my short arms - who knows. I need to get a black sheepskin for both machines...

John.

TWN and Feejer Weejer

What are you guys? Marine Biologists? :D

With two bikes I barely have enough cash left over to buy personal gear (jackets, pants, gloves, boots) for the four seasons of the Midwest.

I have a PCIII and a center stand. :(

Glad you like the Suzuki's.

Is it just me or do these things rock on the twisty bits?

Feejer or Veejer/Weejer............flip a coin, both are awsome.

I have 'people'. What can I say. And yes, it's a whole new world in the twisties with the six-fiddy, yo.

I don't know about the TBS, but Dale Walker mechanic can install the PC or Techlusion and needs no such program or tool as far as he and Dale know. The cat is going to go soon, Dale is using my Wee for development of a mid pipe to eliminate the cat and install his pipe. He want to use the Techlusion instead of the PC for some reason and haveing spent time with Dale in his shop a coup;e of times for the day I trust his judgment. I will eliminate the weight difference by removing the cat and the oem can. Plus whats a few pounds when you add side cases and side case rack with crash bars and engine protector, top case etc. the weight now is unimportant. And with the exhaust mods I will have more hp's than the 06's and before anyway with more throttle response. Most of the yarns on the Strom sites are usually opinions and not so much comparisons and facts of actual work done on the Wee. Most do nothing but add bolt ons. Very few performance mods and very few have done suspension mods which this bike is in dire need of to push it to the limits. JMHO

TWN, I'm picking up a used 06 Wee in Dallas on Sat. Of these farkles what would you do again and what would you skip? How do you like the PW crash bars and skid pan? From pics I've seen they don't protect the plastic on the sides of the tanks in the event of a lay down.

Hi MIke,

Same question of you as I have of TWN. Of these farkles what would you do again and what would you skip? Whose risers did you get and how do you like them?

I wouldn't leave any off. I'm still adding. As for the PW bars, yeah, they look iffy in the photos, but then they all do. It seems that there will be sufficient protection in a lay down for the plastic and the nice thing about his bars is the extra hole for highway pegs. I picked up a pair of Harley pegs (save it, Carver) and they add about 1-1/2" of additional projection. Should be good to go. The skid pan is pretty stout once installed. I bottomed out on some very gnarly ledge a bunch of times and nuttin' but scratched paint on the underside of the pan. Oil filter change will be a *****, though.

Good luck!

Add another. I have an '04 DL1000, blue, like my '06 FJR.

Well I did pick up a used 06 WeeStrom in Dallas 4/14 and rode it 730 miles getting back to Abq NM on Sunday afternoon. The whole ride was windy to say the least. The night after I left a tornado touched down across the highway from the dealer where I bought the bike

The red 06 came with a Leo Vince exhaust system (pipes and can), hand guards, and a Suzuki tank protector. Before leaving the dealership I added wiring for my heated jacket liner and gloves and my radar detector. I also added a Madstad bracket for the windshield that makes it adjustable (think rifle) with 2 screw nuts. Made the ride back much more tolerable. TWN, you'll want to get one of these.

Any WeeStrommer interested in swapping my Leo Vince exhaust for your OEM pipes and can and a few $$? The LV system is $650 new and has 2.2k miles on it. I prefer the quieter can.

I put the Madstad on Sunday. If you put this offer up on stromtrooper.com or the Vstrom board, you'll be ambushed with offers. I'm staying with the stocker as I like the putt-putt quietness.

What/where is the "VStrom" board?

I've been considering replacing my DR 650 with possibly a 650 Strom.
