Anybody from WI/IL interested in a ride within the next 4 or 5 weeks? For those going to CFO (or on the fence) it could be an early taste of what is to come. For others, just a good sampling of some SW WI roads.

CANCELLED/POSTPONED DUE TO HIGH HEAT!! SEE UPDATE POST BELOW

UPDATE -I picked out a TENTATIVE DIFFERENT day- AUGUST 5TH- SEE POST BELOW-I am going to be going on a Saturday to avoid other family events on Sunday.

I figure we could meet at the Dodgeville McDonalds on the north side of town ...SEE BELOW... getting some good riding right way to the north - then head west & north to the real roads. The earlier we can meet, the more roads we can ride. People could peel off for home as they decide they've had enough.

BTW, IA & MN riders are also invited if they want to make the trip.

Post up if you're interested...

This might be to quick for you but I planned on going tomorrow morning for a day and half or so. My family is gone so it will be just me. But like I said, I'm going friday morning early and coming back sat. Otherwise my riding will be limited until I go out to Montana in mid-august to see my sister. Wouldn't mind going that way if it works out for you. I could even leave tonight late and be their tomorrow morning to hook up with you in that direction. Have never been in Wisconsin yet on bike. But I have wanted to.

If you can't make it this short notice, no biggie. Well catch up some other time.

@dev:

I can't take off work tommorrow otherwise I might take you up on it.

I'm sure you already know what roads you were going to tackle, but just in case you didn't the "WI motorcycling" website has some good choices in their maps...

That's all right. I wasn't planning that direction. But would have went that way if it would have worked out. I'll keep looking at what week-end it works out for you. Maybe it will work for me anyway. Just thought I would check.

I'm good for any day except for july 11,15,19,23,27,31 AND AUG 4,8,12,16,20,24 &28 if that's detailed enough for ya. :)

Wheaton;

With enough advance notice, I'd be willing to head up from St. Louis...... I'm from SE Iowa (near the QC), and love playing in Wisconsin.

Postponed due to high heat- see update.

Be at the Dodgeville McDonalds parking lot at UPDATE 9:30 am. We will leave between 9:45 and 10:00 am. UPDATE

The tentative route is to head north on WI 23 to WI 130 to WI 133 west along the river...

crossing the WI river at Muscoda to WI 60 west to cty E north to WI 171 at Boaz.

WI 171 west to WI 35 north along the Mississippi to WI 82 east at Desoto.

WI 82 east to WI 56 east to WI 131 at Viola.

WI 131 north to cty P west. Cty P west to **** Valley. Continue west on US 14 to WI 162 west to the MI River.

Reverse back east on WI 162 up to I90 and superslab back to Wheaton.

As stated before, you are welcome to come and peel off as you care to...I'm sure I will be slabbing in the dark, but all 2-lane travel will be in daylight.

We will stop for brief breaks ( 5 to 10 mins) every 2 hours to catch fluids and sammiches. Bring fluids with you and pack a sandwich as towns may or may not appear at convenient times. Me, I've got a camelback and will pack sandwiches.

Post up IF you are interested.

What? NOBODY interested?

What's the problem- meeting time TOO early? Let me know and maybe we can adjust the starting time.

I think most peeps from that area are going to wfo. I'd go but I am going to wfo. How about after that? Am heading to minnesota after wfo.

Actually, odot there are many in the midwest that aren't making it out to the wfo, so there are a few out there available..

Sorry for the lack o response wheaton, just read this now. Unfortunately, I'll be at oshkosh for the airshow w/ SO. Her b-days thursday and she LOVES airshows now. Plus she'll definitely be trying out one of her presents there, a canon a620. I'll be there shooting w/ my maxxum 7d :yahoo: . I'd love to ride and meet you guys but this is my first time going too, and I'm the guy that can tell you what anything in the air is,except fot most species of bird and aliens. Good luck and ride safe guys.

Welcome back grnarrowe, haven't seen you here in awhile, maybe i just wasn't looking in the right place :p

That's okay, maybe another time...I love airshows too -who doesn't?

@grnarrowe:

We can talk about a meeting point closer on. If nobody else wants in it will just be us, and we can figure our own route...
