Got a very cool Motofizz tank bag for xmas... I am so tempted to use it for my commute (the laptop fits!) and leave the hard bags home. But it seems like magnets could wack out the computer. Anybody ever try this particular stupid pet trrick?

I used to do this all the time before I got the FJR. I was using a Joe Rocket sport bag that was magnetic and never had any problems. I would flip the laptop upside down so the HD was as far away from the magnets as possible. Of course I'll admit I didn't care as much because the laptop was a work laptop and I never kept anything on there that I wasn't willing to loose.

Let me just add you should do this at your own risk.

The the magnet for proper shielding. Use a ferous object and see if the inside-bottom of the bag attracts the object. If not, then the MFGR shielded the top side of the magnet and your items should be okay for at least moderate exposure. To be extra safe, place a thick terry bath towel on the bottom to provice some spacing from the magnet (as well as some padding). Since a magnetic field's strength decreases at a square of the distance, that will also help protect your laptop.
