I am not sure I want to keep this bike. Thought I wanted it, but now I don't know why I bought it. I can only ride one at a time anyway.

It is a brand new 06 (two weeks old) with 1K miles on it. I haven't made my mind up for sure if I want to sell it or not, but if someone gave me a decent offer, I just might let it go. The bike is located in Ft Worth.

Give it time Fred.

Took me a month and a couple thousand miles to know *for sure* that I made the right decision in replacing my Connie.

As with any new bike, you have to grow into each other, IMHO.

I almost splatted myself a couple of times, took me awhile to realize the bike had way more capability than it's rider, in HP and handling and braking. Gone were the days when I could just twist the right grip and wait for the bike to catch up to my intentions... Since then, I've grown as a rider and now plan ahead alot more then I used to, and constantly think about the other jokers on the road.

By comparison, life on the old cruiser was just life in Sloooooow Moooootion...

<edit>

I still smile when I get off the bike these days, unlike the previous bike where I was just glad to get off but was definitely not smiling...

Purch 06/05, 13k miles, 2 SS1K's, finally broke down & got a Russell seat.

...yep, I think skooter has got something there Fred. A couple of weeks and only a thousand miles is hardly enough time to judge your new purchase. As skooter implied, an adjustment/condioning period is required to adequetly assess the situation...sort of akin to the ole saying: never make an important decision while depressed! :assasin:

If I didn't have my 05 I'd take it off your hands. After the research that I did I found what I was looking for in a motorscooter. You should have gotten the 06 model six months ago....then I would have been interested. touche to all the waiters.........

i said the same thing after 2 weeks on the new 2005 . give it a chance to grow on you . its a great bike .

Sell it. If it leaves you wondering, you don't deserve it anyway. :p

I'd buy it, but it doesn't have enough miles to get let into Ca and it's the wrong color. You should have bought an AE, then I'd be interested!

Yea, maybe I need to give it some more time to gel. Though I think sometimes the fun of riding a bike is pulling the throttle to the stop and going through the gears and pushing the bike to it's limits. I don't think I can ride this bike like that, at least not on the street anyway.

Maybe I need to take it on a road trip and see how it does.

Fred H,

The rest of the guys are clueless.... come clean, what speed was on the ticket :D :D !

Best Regards,

Shane

I'll second that :D

My experience was different, I knew I HAD to have one after a 20 minute demo ride two years ago.

Biggest mistake; waiting two years to act on it.

Good one, shane.....draw him out. But, if I got a speeding ticket, I'd be bragging about it right after I got out of jail. ;)

That is why one of the first farkles going on my AE next month is a "cruise-control". I depend on it on Vet and the GL1800.

Best Regards,

Shane

Fred, come riding with me and some others on Sunday! See the DFW thread.

Purchased my 05 a year ago with out riding one "read tests". Before my bike came the owner of the shop had one. I road it , it was much more than I expected! Over the last year added some farkles of course. I love this bike the more I ride it. Need to mess with the suspension a little ect. The ownly real big improvment I did was Cee bailey windshield. I could never understand way the FJR or any other high performance very well built rides stock windshield always suck! My connie had a rifle my FJR1300 a Cee Bailey. Over all this bike is a blast to ride. Is very comfortable on the open road. And eats up alot of road real fast.

Fred,

I went for a very short 5 mile ride tonight - and it was the most natural thing to hop on Wonky and ride down the road -

Just a week ago, I was still very tentative, and, for lack of a better word, scared of her. Doing over 800 miles this past weekend got me past that.

At 1268 miles, I'm just becoming comfortable with her - and she with me.

Give it time - it is a relationship, you have to learn the bike.

And give her a name !! :D she won't feel like she belongs until you name her!! ;) How about 'Xyresic" ? (google !!)
