I'm thinking of making WFO this year from New York. Is any one else thinking of doing this? I could use some route suggestions (nice ones that is). I would also consider riding out with one or two others.

I'm probably going...from central Jersey. Haven't planned a route yet. May also be combining with BMW MOA in Wisconsin two weeks earlier.

Ray,

How long are you figuring to get out there? I'm contemplating on doing a long trip this summer and being self employed I'm pretty flexible about schedule so I would consider it for sure.

I'm thinking seriously about going as well. I'll keep an eye on this thread. I'm in the Catskills in NY, probably 90 minutes from Latham.

I've been considering a trip to WFO and combining it w/ some sightseeing...Custer's Battleground, Devil's Tower, Mt. Rushmore, Badlands, etc. But have nothing definite yet. I'll just monitor this thread.

Brazos,Same here. Might Glacier be on your list?

I hate to bring this up, but how will we account for distance travelled? I know my distance from Orangevale to Park City is YIKES 666 miles. However, I plan on some extra riding before I get there. Some names of places come to mind like Ranier, Banff, Edmonton, Glacier, Yellowstone, Keys, (that last one's a joke), etc.

I suppose the burden of proof is on the rider, and a person will determine what does and does not constitute a reasonable effort to prove distance.

What's proof? Receipts only? We should standardize on something now.

Also, I think there should be 2 prizes: one for the person that lives furthest away (Stef?/Teerex???), and one for the longest ride to the event (trailers don't count)

Shameless hijack

If anybody gets serious about Banff I'm all ears. It's one of the coolest places on earth though my wife thinks the only place to stay is the Fairmont Banff Springs. :glare: Since there's no way I'm taking a pillon on a road trip like that I'll tell you where I'd stay. Sure Banff is cool, stay there a day and enjoy the shops and resturants. Then go here to experience the Canadian Rockies.

It's a little over an hour NW of Banff outside of Golden BC. Get on an ATV or a horse and do the Canadian outback. There are no words to describe it so here's a couple of pics.

Here's Banff from the top of Sulfur Mountain

No need to get complicated, but all counts must be done completely via scooters. We'll work the details.

Well, it's a damn good thing I decided to check this thread. Because otherwise I would NEVER have known that my so-called riding buddy Grumpy was considering a trip to WFO!

:angry2:

This might be just the right reason to ditch the Sturgis plans with the HD neighbor, since I can only do one such adventure in a given year. (Maybe two if there are naked women and alcohol involved.) Hmmm... does doing 6,000 miles to WFO with Grumpy&Company, AND doing Sturgis with US Marine/HD/slab-riding neighbors qualify me as bipolar, or just likely unemployed?

If I can talk Grumpy&Company into a slight detour to pick up a spare SO for me in Canada, then I think WFO Here I Come!!!

You guys ready for a redneck Haulin-Ashe invasion?

I'll have to have tires strategically placed every few hundred miles.

I'll be coming outta Chicago, if Idon't miss the hotel posting! I'm checking everyday just to stave off the inevitable bad timing that plagues everything!

Anybody riding thru IL , let me know. BTW if you MUST come thru the greater Chicago area, let me know. Our traffic absofuckinlutley SUCKS. This way I can give you a heads up on any construction or tips on when to avoid the area. I'm a CFD Paramedic, we only have 59 ALS ambo's so when it gets busy we go wherever they need us so ,knowing traffic patterns and problems is extremely useful and an everyday thing for me.

But, if you feel like measuring distance by hours per mile then feel free.

Yep, been there a couple times. I might consider flying the Canadian-based fairer species to Chicago in order to have a better intersextion. Did I spell that correctly? :)

All depends if I can avoid the warning signals and fly-overs induced when I cross the Manson-Nixon line.

Geez. Ya'll are going to make me sell something and go to this thing.

Hmmmm! Glacier might be nice place to visit. Like I said, I have no definite plans but will keep checking this thread.

I also have friends & relatives in Salt Lake City I'd like to visit.
