Spoke with my dealer yesterday and he said he would put together a package for EOM. I have to get back with him after the 16th (when he returns from vacation) won't know what it is until then...

I don't really have any connections with dealerships or businesses. Is there anyone who's interested in rounding up door prizes for EOM? Last year there were quite a few things up for grabs, and I have a feeling that if I'm the only one out there talking to people, the pickings will be a lot more scarce this year...
I just retired from 38 years in the wholsale hardware business. While cleaning out my garage, I stumbled on about 10 nice metric hex key sets. These are like a jackknife with plastic handles and fold up keys. I think half are metric and the rest are combo sets with 1 metric and 1 standard. They are easy to pack on a bike and are a nice addition to the tool kit. I'll bring them with me.

I just got home from my local dealer. I asked if they'd be door prize sponsors for the EOM & was told to come back & speak w/ the manager as time gets closer. He told me that they'd probably donate some cleaning solution, etc. On my way home I decided that is hardly worth me carrying a gallon or two of some sort of solution 350 miles to Boone. Don't mean to sound ungrateful... but I'm weighing the carry/value/weight factor... & if anyone might really want a jug of bike shampoo which can be acquired for a couple of bucks. I think that I'm not going back to ask. Probably will hit up Cycle Gear when I need to buy something in there.

For those of you that have a Cycle Gear in your town, go by and ask for donations. They have a special form they fill out to write it off. I went by mine today and they donated the following:

1. Power Trip Textile Jacket with zip out liner and armor. -XL

2. Olympia Gel Gloves-L

3. Long Way Round DVD

The jacket is kinda bulky so I think I will mail it to the hotel...

Comon' people, go get some door prizes!

I've got a Cycle Gear right next door to the dealer that was giving me those liquid gifts to carry to Boone. Maybe I'll just have to stop by there after work. Thanks for the heads up,

Heidi

THREAD HIJACK!

Hey nitelife, aren't you the guy who said that Chrissy's a$$ is too big for an FJR? What was with that? She just fishing?

Um, yea. That be me. I was the first to see her post in the wee hours of the morning and I could tell right away that her intentions were not FJR related. You should have seen the pic of her a$$ I saw. That one came down quickly... I would have replied differently if I thought she was legit....

I have a set of 10 degree risers that are to be giving away at the event, I spoke to David who graciously agreed to donate a set of these risers. These are for the pre 06 FJR.

I am pasting his reply to My request.

We are honored to donate a door prize to the Eastern FJR 1300 Event. As fellow motorcyclists we have enjoyed talking with FJR riders around the country and world the past 3 years… who contacted us initially about our product but also become friends. We thank everyone for that opportunity.

Many have contacted us and asked about risers for the 2006. The design is not only different it is also quite challenging. Denny is working on it. I promise to email everyone who has emailed me…. when we have risers that will work within the new 06 design.

Hope everyone has a great time during the Event.

Be safe, enjoy the ride and each other.

David

If you have any prizes that you want to mail into the event, instead of trying to carry them on the bike, or planing to but leaving it at home, like I did last year,

Just PM me or Slapnpop for the event "ship to" address. B)

FYI, D&H just commited to sending something in. (most likely a Yamaha jacket, roll the dice on the size)

She said they have sold over 250 FJRs, and approaching 300.

Gotta love those guys. :)

Contrary to the post I read here... my local Cycle Gear doesn't appear to want to donate anything. I left my name & # in hopes for a call back from the manager. What the guy behind the register DID tell me is that all requests have to go thru corporate & they are the ones who decide if there will be door prizes donated.

No call back... maybe I should just be dropping in again? Or maybe I'll just drop the subject.

Slapnpop, would it be possible to get a link to Wayne Cycle posted on the EOM site?

Thank you,
