Just a heads-up to anyone passing through central Ohio.

We got hit with a pretty good wind storm this past Sunday. There are still spotty power outages, resulting in inoperable stop lights (and idiots who don't know what 4-WAY STOP MEANS!!) and gas stations that are closed.

Tic-toc-tic-toc....

I rode through Columbus on Sunday night on my way home from Indy.

Very strange when you pass the Polaris exit & no lights are on.

The South-West area got hit pretty hard.

Duke is making great strides today, but I'd highly suggest you get gas long before here and don't stop until you get east of Ohio.

People are still stupid, lots of stations out of gas, and or no power to pump what they do have.

YMMV and it is getting better.

If you do get stuck, I'm on the FJR Assistance list, and do have fuel at the house.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Any info on how travel is along US-23 coming south into Columbus? We'll be leaving N. Detriot area early tomorrow morning. I had plans on stopping at the www.ironpony.com store before heading east to Zanesville (and OH-555 S). I'll make sure to fill up between Findlay and Delaware on the way down.

Thanks again,

Wayne

Hi, Wayne!

I haven't heard anything specific regarding your route. AEP's website shows 200,000+ customers in Franklin county are still without power, including co-workers and one of my employers facilities and some traffic signals.

You may want to call the Iron Pony to double-check that their store is open. I don't see Westerville Schools being closed tomorrow (Iron Pony is in the Westerville area), so hopefully they'll be open for you.

See ya in Lewisburg. Ride safe!

Andy

Thanks Andy, I caught Ironpony before they closed, they said they are open for business. See you in a few days.

Anyone traveling today or tomorrow should be ok through most of Southern Ohio, Ike walloped us too. My family went 3 days without power, some still are waiting. Plenty of cold beer at Kroger who had a generator. (Had to make it through, somehow) A majority of gas stations are open now, but lines have been long.

I have to say Duke Energy called in the troops and is kicking butt on getting things restored.

Hope everyone faired ok.

Ride Safely!
