I thought it might be a good idea to open a topic for everyone to announce where they are riding from and if anyone wants to ride with them to WFO?

I guess I can be the first (or second, I saw a group from the East Coast with their own topic).

I will be riding my 2003 FJR from Denver, Colorado to WFO with my neighbor (who went out and bought a 2004 after he saw mine). Is there anyone out there from the Denver area or anyone who will be driving through Denver to get to WFO who want to ride together?

I am thinking that I will be riding I-70 through the Colorado Rocky Mountains to Green River, Utah and head north from there into Park City . . . . . . . .

Who is in ?

This will be my first trip to WFO and I am really looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hawk Pilot, I would be interested hooking up with you in Denver. I'm coming from Oklahoma, a day's ride from Denver. I would get a hotel near you and leave with you guys the next morning. :yahoo:

Call me crazy. I'm thinking of doing a BBG from Terre Haute to Park City. Right at 1520 miles. Just bashing around the idea right now. Most of the trip would be slab on I-70. Boring, yes, but gives a goal.

Alternative is to start the weekend before and ride up to Banff then down to PC,U over several days.

Anyone? Ideas? Suggestions? :yahoo:

Leaving Clovis, CA probably Wednesday night, July 25th and braving the dark & dangerous Yosemite National Deer Sanctuary before the blast across Nevada. Wish me luck!

PM if you wanna come along, but not for the weak of heart. I'm a bit flexible on departure time.

I could be persuaded to take the longer route over Sonora Pass for the sake of joining the right group. I would save enough on Park entrance fees to pay for the extra gas.

You're crazy! I'd be crazy too, but Park City is only about 800 miles from me.

Maybe not Skooter...He'd suggest doing it in about 16 hours.
Perhaps a new topic in Iron Butt would get lots of advice.

It was meant to be a more general question. Looking for a response like "we're leaving from Knoxville and going through Minneapolis to Kalispell, if you wanna go with us that way to Banff". Wasn't really looking for Iron Butt advice. That's straight forward and the blast to or from WFO already plotted. The interstate system is a wonderful thing. Just kinda slow the farther east you go...

Anyway, interested in seeing what others have in mind for trips to and from WFO. And if anyone is nuts enough and twists my arm, I might blast out there in 24 hours... but it would probably take ALL of it. More than likely, I'll take 3 or 4 days getting there and see the country side. Pending? You out there listening?

How the rest of you gonna get there? Groups? Back on track/topic....

I did my BBG on the way HOME from WFO-5... figured I'd be ready to get back at the end of the trip, and didn't want to burn out on the front end. I took my time tooling through New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada getting there... and blasted home. Worked ok for me... other than the flat tire, retrace to Reno, and restart... oh, and trying to do it on 1.5 hours sleep in the previous 36 hours... that didn't help either.

Oh sure, now the Colorado trail ride was just 'day in the dirt'!...

We will be looking for some twisties between here and there - haven't even looked at a map yet. I'm more focussed on planning snowmobile adventures at this time of year.

Looks like my East Coast friend Gypsy will be shipping his bike here from Halifax and riding down to Utah with us. Any other Great Plains people attending yet?

My plan, Is to leave Missouri on 7-14, Then ride to Sutherlin,OR to visit with dad, Then ride to Reno to visit mom, THEN ride to Park City on wed,7-26...

TC- Pick me up in Reno and we could head out together! :friends:

Thats the plan as of right now, But subject to change as the time gets closer!

When we get to PC, The 1st round is on me! :drinks:

I will riding up from Hereford, AZ..........
waldmana: Andy, I plan on working at my company Metro Mechanical until 1500 hours on Wednesday July 25 and then riding to Kanab for the night. On Thursday I plan to ride Utah 89 through Panguitch, Ephraim and Heber City to Park City. You are certainly welcome to ride along with me if you wish!

Metro Mech. is located at 407 S. 17th Ave. in Phoenix, just south of the Arizona State Capitol Building on 17th. My work number is 602-254-1191, x148.

It's also possible that I may be riding up with my Zonie FJR riding amigos: FJRobert - Glendale, SkooterG - Casa Grande y mi hermano vectervp1 - Chandler. FJRobert and I are riding together to Death Valley Daze tomorrow, I'll find out more about his riding agenda to WFO. Best regards, Don
