Just got back from a ride to kansas city, we had all kinds of weather, including hail... Areostich suit normally work great but in the rain, we were members of the wet crotch club. (not always bad).

Anyone have any tips for waterproofing or adding to for a shell?

go to Areostich's web site and buy some of the stuff that they use to wash and re- waterproof the suit. I have done this several times to our suits and they are 4 years old and we've been in lot of rain and never been wet. You can also go to an backpacking store and buy some spray on stuff to re-do the waterproofing. I have used that before too, it worked well also. ;)

I think that the water leaked in at the zipper section, and I did have it closed. I will buy the waterproofing and give it a shot. I love the suit otherwise.

Aerostitch is great about servicing the suits. Call them. I have sent mine back for a bad zipper and they serviced it, cleaned it and re-waterproofed it, no charge!

Call them and see what they can do for you.

Crotch area is the place that most people complain about with the areostich suit. When I bought mine, there was a gentleman at there office (ordering his 8th suit) and he mentioned that the way to fix this problem was to make sure you don't create a place for the water to puddle. He mentioned to grab the suit in the area and fold it in, or pull the top over the extra suit.

Has worked for me. Hopefully that is understandable.....

Good luck,

Dana

Thanks, that makes sense. There was a lot of material there. I had suggested a rain bib for the front of the suit, but that may solve the problem also.
