If you don't mind a little heat & rain and 1027 mosquitoes, Arecibo is really quite nice year round. The west/central part of the country actually has a lot of fun roads. The only problem is the wild life -- chickens, pigs, etc you can find in the middle of the road as you come around a corner on a road that is hardly more than one lane wide.
Yeah that, and for some reason there are a lot of Puerto Ricans around there.
It actually can get pretty freaking hot in PR. Spent a lot of time (in summer) down at Rosey Roads back in the late 70's early 80's. Apparently you can grab a piece of that old Navy base as they are selling it off right now.
