Guys,
I am seriously interested in getting an audio mixer/intercom and have pretty much settled on the Autocom 7 Advance. I have a FF helmet.
My questions, before I go ahead and buy it, are:
1. Is listening to music really safe on a bike? I normally hum a tune in my head, for like six hours straight, so I typically bore myself to death. The idea of continuous music sounds really good, but I never would want to do something at the expense of safety.
2. I ride with the intention of "getting away" from the phone, etc., but I like the idea of being reachable for my family, as I always am other times. How practical is it to answer the phone and have a short conversation?
3. I will need to decide where to mount. I can either put it in my tankbag (at least to start), then I will possibly move it to the bike (under the seat). What is recommended and what have been your successes or problems?
4. Any thoughts on this unit? I have read recommendations for other units, but none float my boat as much. Feedback is appreciated.
5. I am going to connect it to my PDA phone, which is a bit of a wiring challenge. I can handle it, but Autocom will have to set up the unit NOT to volume down on the music channel when the phone/intercom is active. This is because the phone audio and music audio come from the same port. This set up is a near-permament mod to the unit, which will thenn prevent the music from being muted if I add bike to bike intercom, and I can work around it by going for the Bluetooth module. Anyone have this module or any thoughts around it?
TIA!
