I have now gone through THREE docking stations on my Delphi XM radios due to failure of that little POS circuit board in the cig plug. THREE of them. Can I find just the power plug? NooOOooo. So I have to buy a new docking station for my bike, again, at $50? Bullcrap. I'm tired of Delphi and ready for a change.

I can buy an Audiovox XM online and get the whole shootmatch for $80. That includes all the docking stuff.

Has anyone tried the Audiovox unit?

Please don't recommend Sirius or a Roady to me. There's lots of options out there. I just want to see if anyone has Audiovox experience of the XM kind (as opposed to the CC kind). Next choice is Roady2, but hey, maybe I wanna be different...

And Oh, how I hate not being able to go back into the title and correcting my typo. Dangit.

No experience with the Audiovox, but had your experience with the POS circuit board in the cigarette plug that came with my Roady2. I bought a 3rd party power supply and have had zero problems with it. I attributed the circuit board problem to it not being designed to handle the increased vibration on a motorcycle. I can pnly imagine how short it's life would be on a V twin!

Grumpy, do you remember where you got the third party power plug? I just assumed that the Delphi power cord had some proprietary circutry and just any old power cord just wouldn't work. I'll have to do a little more research on that one, I guess.

Yeah, that's why I wasn't heading for the Roady. I figured it would have the same plug and the same POS circuit board and fail the same way. Although I can get one at Walmart with a mount and power plug for under $50.

I also have an old FM transmitter power cord that I can use. But it is very bulky. That concept for the original Skyfi sucked, too. Oh well, live an learn.

Ok, found a Skyfi replacement cord, but still not crazy about having the same ol' same ol' happen.

I have some generic cords at home that convert to 6v. I'll give that a try.

Audiovox anyone? Hmmmm?

Try XM411.com and scroll down to shopping. they should have power cords. I use a 3rd party hard wired power suppy for my pioneer XM.

FJRocket, I bought the 6 volt converter from 2 Wheel [email protected] As I recall he has several variations and I went with the one that was easiest for me to wire. He's not cheap, but I've been running it without a problem for almost a year. The origonal POS that came with the Roady 2 lasted less than a month.

Jim, thanks for that. I've since dredged out my old FM "modutalor" POS that I got trying to avoid the cassette adapter in my car. I was able to fit that monstrosity under the tupperware. I think I'll run that til it croaks, then jump to another cord or a different receiver. One that buffers a couple minutes would be nice.

Guess no one is using the Audiovox, and that is going on the back burner anyway....
