Recently installed an Autocom (the older, pre-2006 version) on my bike. I'm getting interference due to having my Valentine 1 radar detector wired directly to the bike's electrical system (through a relayed power strip). I'm currently using a Radio Shack-brand wire to connect the radar detector's audio output to the Autocom. I recall that Autocom use to sell a "filtered" connection wire to remove the hum produced by the bike's electrical system; however, with the advent of the new Autocom electronics, I can't find the part number for the old (or any) filtered connector. Anyone have the part number or a Radio Shack equivalent that will work? Thanks.

Sick,

What you are referring to is a ground loop isolator. Check here.

clicky

You might also check directly with the detector manufacturer. I have an Escort and got a GLI directly from them....

You should really stay with Autocom products. I know they are spendy but they work. Call Keith at Tulsa Truck Center. He is the man. Helps FJR owners out with price and is reliable and knows this industry inside out.

+1 two times for the Electrical Connection ground loop isolator. I've got it between all the electronics and the Autocom, took all the noise out...I've got a new generation Auto on the FJR.

I've had NO success with Autocom USA tech support, over more than two years. Finally wrote the Presidink of the company via email, and got an offer for a replacement system...not what I wanted, nor what I needed, on the Goldwing.

That's why Keith is so good. He will give you an honest and correct answer the first time you call and talk to him, even if you don't buy the original unit from him. He even offered, when I didn't get any satisfaction from Autocom USA on a isolator for my GPS. He offered to send me a new one for free and take the old one and send it back to Autocom. I didn't buy this unit from him but the next time I did.
