Going to the dealer to get shafted - Priceless

I had mine done by the dealer - simply because I wanted it documented, and they installed the bags (which wern't delivered with the bike)

Here's my dealer service results:

1. Torx screws on bags weren't loctited. Did it as soon as I got home.

2. TBS wasn't touched.

3. Bike was returned to me with 3 quarts of oil - wasn't even showing in the window. They charged me for three quarts. They added the fourth quart for free.

Parts charged for: 3 qts oil, 1 oil filter ($12.95) 3 crush washers, drive oil.

Cost was 130.00 with labor.

Did a subsequent oil and rear end fluid change at 1932 miles -

The so called mechanic used the wrong washer on the rear end drain plug, which explained the seepage I was seeing. Used the correct ones on the fill plug and the oil drain plug.

Invested in a CarbTuneII - did my own TBS -

Moving forward, the only time it goes into the dealer is for warranty work. I'll do all of my own from here on out. I'll document it, with receipts for parts, but I'll do all my own labor.

i can do the fluids change. i have never done the throtle body sync. i always wonder if the dealer really check all the fasters.

sounds the the typical dealer hose job they try to pull on all the jap cars.

thanks

In the Bay Area of San Fran the dealers get anywhere from $150 on the low end to $300. All they do is change the oil and filter and kick the tires. do it yourself.

Thank you for actually answering the question...

$325.00 from a stealer on Long Island in NY. Easily the most expensive oil change by a child that I have ever had....

I can't for the life of me imagine having to pay for a service at only 600 miles (I had 600 miles on mine the day after I took delivery of it).

If it needs something that soon, MamaYama should be paying for it.

I did have the oil changed on mine, but that was by my choice. Normally I would do it myself, but I bought the bike out of state and needed to establish a relationship with a local dealer (and had to have it inspected to have it registered anyway). So I paid the dealer for the oil change only.

I was just going to have mine done, but I couldn't get it into the dealer I bought the bike from and another had their first appointment available in two weeks. So, I went down and picked up the parts. Just completed the oil and final drive changes tonight. Will synch the TBS when the tool arrives. Time spent less than an hour.
