Looking to replace stock tires on my 05 with Avons. From what I have read good if not the best pick for all around riding. Any down side I should know about? Or is it all good!

Dude! Seriously, try using the Search button.

Moving thread to it's new home.

My experience with Avons was a good one. (as much as it pains me to agree with skoot) Many here brag on Michelin Pilot Roads, however I think they stink. Go with Avons.

And be fore-warned. If TWN tries to tell you anything, just remember he is replying from the asylum. He doesn't even have a motorcycle. That is just one of his many dillusions. Medication has thusfar been unsuccessful.

Bike came with the Metzeler Z4's. At 11,528 miles, changed to the Avons. There was a minor amount of tire 'squirm' at 1-3 MPH. Got 13k+ out of the Avons, feel great, corner great, no worries in rain, etc etc. Kept at 41/42 pressure. Just bought another set of Avons...

"Well, you see Nurse Ratched, I had my motorcycle this morning and now I don't. Now, how do you explain that?"

"That's right, Mr. Scab. There is an Easter Bunny."

"I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this."

"They was giving me ten thousand watts a day, you know, and I'm hot to trot! The next woman takes me on's gonna light up like a pinball machine and pay off in silver dollars!"

"Is that crazy enough for ya'? Want me to take a **** on the floor?"

Er, where's my helmet and whatever you do, stay the hell away from Metzelers! Instant lobotomy, those hoops are!

What the heck is going on? I think Michellin Pilot Roads are crap too. Me and Scab are agreeing a lot lately. Has the polarity of the earth changed, or did turning 40 finally get me there? :D

I have had two sets of Avons, two sets of Bridgestones and one set of PR's. I just bought a new set of Avons after finally wearing out my crappy Michellins. They have the worst grip of the three tires I've had, and wore out second fastest. Avons win in both grip and wear. How can you beat that?

Orange, you didn't say anything about Pirelli's why not, or are you not given kindly to Italians  ....

"After 40" changes your perspective on a lot of things. I look at everything differently now. Course, it could just be the peculiar angle I now hold my head at in order to see through my bifocals.

I never really thought about it. Hmm. My EXwife is 1/4 Sicillian. Maybe I should just stay away, my plate was broken at that table and I'd hate to accidently do business with them :D

Avons it is. I left England, but they'd have me back. B)

Are you sure about that?....did you keep up your British passport?..... :D .....maybe you'll have to start riding on Goodyears.....HD's favorite tire   .....

Well, I do have my certificate of birth (and death) with the birth part filled in showing I was born in England. That's enough for them. The US now allows dual citizenship, however at the time I was naturalized, they did not. I had to give up my rights as a UK citizen (in the eyes of the US). Therefore, I was informed that if I ever take advantage of my UK citizenship again that I could lose my US citizenship. Hmm...should I buy the Avons???

I like my Diablo Stradas better than the old Avons, but I'm gonna try a Storm in the rear position as soon as the Pirelli wears out. I don't expect it to see springtime.

I still have a new front from the free promotion that will compliment the rear Avon and whatever goes on the rear after that, as the front seems to last about as long as two rears.
