So work has taken me to Utah and I want to get back into the fishing game. I've done a little fly fishing the last few years so I think I've got that part covered, but I want to kit up for fishing the reservoirs. To that end I have two questions:

Do you recommend any fishing forums?

If your knowledgeable on the Utah spinning reel shoreline fishing scene, what rod weight, reel type would you recommend.

Thanks!

What you fishing for? Largemouth Bass? Crappie? Lake Trout? Smallmouth? Pretty much all of these can be landed with a medium

weight rod/reel combo. I like using the "super lines" ... 12- 20 pound test Spyderwire is on most of my spinning reels. I like longer rods 6-7 foot for fishing from shore with a fast tip. I know this isn't Utah specific, but most reservoir lakes are pretty much the same in my experience. Again, matters what you're fishing for. Different spots feature different species. Look here:

Never thought about joining a fishing forum....

Utah's a huge state with a huge variety of fishing. The best fishing is usually found 200 miles north of Salt Lake, as evidenced by the sportsman's access parking lots full of UT vehicles. You'll need one of these: https://idfg.idaho.gov/licenses/fees-nonresident

Thanks for the tips, gives me a place to start my research from.

I've got my license in hand so I've got that covered.
