Hmmm Hmmm good. This was in my back yard yesterday, just begging to be whacked and dressed for dinner.

And me without any firearms or archery equipment any more (sigh)

Come on now "Man Up" you got two hands and a pocket knike don't ya?!

Or is that just a Southren thang? B)

I've got that **** in my front yard and back yard, every day. You have to drive slow through my neighborhood at night. South Western Pennsylvania. Deer strike capital of the U.S. (if not, darn close).

Being born in Pittsburgh (Troy Hill), I can't rightly say I ever saw a deer walking down the street or in my yard... My, how times change...

Well technically, I live in Washington County (McMurray), instead of Allegheny County (Pittsburgh), but even with that said, you still will have deer walking down Washington Road, in Mt. Lebanon. As a matter of fact they are consedering opening up hunting IN Mt. Lebanon. But...if the Bambi lovers have their way..

Check the National deer strike statistics.

Gang violence in Troy Hill tends to keep the deer heards down. ;)

Mt. Lebanon... my Aunt and Uncle's former town (Driftwood Dr.) - hunting allowed there? Yikes! . And Troy Hill is no longer a German neighborhood?! You mean no more Mrs. Yetter's strudel? What, like the homies now take pot shots at the Good Ship Lollipop from up on the hill?

Sniff. Sad. :(

Nah, I was just jagging you (remember that term?) about the Troy Hill thing....I THINK. Of course you never know, I've been out of the city loop for a while. At one time, many years ago, the Hill District wasn't a bad ethnic neighborhood.

In regard to hunting in Mt. Lebanon, yep, a freind of mine who lives on Beverly (off of Cochran) just told me about this, but it is still something they are only considering doing, right now. The problem there still isn't even close to what it is here in Washington County.

More of the populated areas in southern NY state are looking into opening up to deer hunting. Archery only. The limited range and lack of loud noise makes archery more acceptable. People are tired of denting their cars and having their landscape eaten.

My backyard a few weeks ago:

Last night someone told me that they were considering bringing coyotes into the area (Washington County, PA), to help with the deer problem.

It really isn't the deer's fault (as much as I dislike them). More developments going up, forcing the deer into more populated areas, We've killed off most, if not all of their natural predator's. This is what we get. The deer are just doing what they do and what they've always done. Eat and **** (actually, that doesn't sound half bad). So what do we get? Car's and bike's damaged, people hurt or killed. What the insurance companies pay out annually to repair auto's damaged by deer strikes is unbelievable.

We've created the problem, now we have to find a way to fix it.

I like the coyote/wolf idea, but you just know the stupid rednecks and "he man hunters" are going to hunt them, too. (sigh)

The problem with introducing coyotes and wolves is that they are not selective in what they prey on. Lots of coyotes where I live, and lots of pet cats and dogs disappear. I lost two dogs to a pack of coyotes a couple of years ago. Coyotes are hunted and trapped, but there is little call for hides and the meat is not edible so there are few people who harvest them.
