at my local m/c repair shop, noticed baking soda in the dudes shop supplies cabinet...

asked what he used it for, thinking it might be ph neutral for small spills...

nope, beside cleaning battery terminals, he uses baking soda as a

accelerent for curing instant bonding glue on, for example, a small fairing crack repair...

says after spreading the glue, a light sprinkling of baking soda speeds the curing time...

new to me/cool to me..

Baking soda does act as an accelerant for cyanoacrylate adhesives (aka superglues). They also market a spray that is a low grade freon compound that works much better than baking soda and does not produce the crusty residue. It's commonly called ZAP-it or CA-Kicker.

Available at your local hobby supply.
