Two deer strikes on the Rueben Run RTE

2 near misses for me personally in the last 5 days

1 deer strike to a non-fjr peep buddy of mine

Ride carefully these days my friends, slow it down on 2 lane country roads, at dawn and dusk, watch those blind corners...

That is good information but is only accurate in your part of the country. Down here in Swampy Flatlandistan the rut occurs much much later. Deer will go into rut down here usually in January. Of course we don't have any mountains for them to play in.

Still, thanks for an excellent reminder to be on the lookout for the tasty little bike wreckers.

there may be more activity in the fall but I see deer all year long and my strike was at 11am. The forest rats are out to get us 24/7 365 days a year.

keep yours eyes moving but it will be the one you don't see that will get you-not much anyone can do when that rat comes out of the trees or tall grass on a full run a half a second ahead of you. ATGATT !

Thanks for the reminder Don.

I'm sure Bust will be along shortly to thank you for the links.

I have four states in me memory banks Karl.. But it's always good to scout new area. ;)

We had 2 in the backyard earlier this week. You two have been here. The swamp and woods are only a mile away but those loony fookers seen to like the burbs.

True Dat! Check out when best to mate with the does here!

Or Here!
Man with the title of those links... I thought we were gonna be talking about manatees :dribble:

Got an email from a friend today. He said he's going deer hunting tomorrow.

Told him to shoot a couple extras and just leave them where they drop. :evilsmiley03:

I nearly hit two good sized bucks driving home from my mom's house the other night. Came around a turn and the two assholes were standing in the middle of the road. I grabbed brake hard and hit the horn...They spooked off pretty fast. First time I have seen deer on that road in a very long time. I was glad I was in my truck

I have been taking the slab more lately. It isn't as intimidating with the proper gear. I know it's all in my head, a getoff at 80mph is never going to be pretty...

Rode back from Ron Ayers' bike night last Friday at about 8:15pm and the pucker factor was pretty high...gatherings of rats could be seen down off the road (US64). It's pretty normal to see large groups along that road at any time of the day, but darkness amps up the chance of an encounter. Passed a couple obliterated carcasses while staying behind an Escalade all the way back. Figured he'd make a great deer plow. ;)

NCDOT issued their annual warning last week.
