This may seem weird, but try running a jumper wire from your battery negative post to a solid frame ground.

I had some REALLY weird electrical gremlins on my bike that I couldn't track down, with symptoms similar to yours. In the course of troubleshooting, I found that everything worked fine when I ran the jumper to ground. My ground cable tested fine, was clean and properly installed on both ends, and had no evidence of wear, bending, heat, etc. I bought a new ground cable, which tested exactly the same as my old ground, but with the new ground installed - voila! - no more gremlins.

I have a customer who is an electrical engineer and he explained the name and the particulars of this phenomenon, which I promptly forgot. In any event, it may be worth a shot.

This an update to my 07 FJRae I was still having problems when I got bike back from dealers. On Monday afternoon I started bike, it ran for maybe 5 minutes and then I noticed the abs light come then a minute later my display went blank, then the tach wasn't working then bike stalled.

I called dealer again and he told me to bring it in on Friday. So I charged battery and took bike back to dealers, on the way to dealers on the highway about 3/4 the way there the abs light comes on, I said here we go and I started thinking of ways how I was going to get this bike to the dealers, anyway alittle while after the display shut down, then the tach and I had no power, I started to coast to side of highway and then all of sudden everything came back on and it ran fine, I made it to the dealers no problem. I told dealer my story and he thinks it could be a short. I told him the only things I did to bike was have you do the ignition recall and I changed my seat. Could it be the ignition? This really starting to piss me off.
