Battery tender

I live in South Ontario - Winter temps ave probably -5 deg C, with some "plus" temps and a few days/nights as low as -20 deg. C.

I plan to leave battery in the bike hooked up to a tender in unheated garage. Will the battery or the tender be adversely affected?

Its a 2006 with, presumably, original sealed battery.

Anyone have a source of scientific info. or emperical experience in a similar climate? Bike will be dormant November 1 to April 1.

PS I did a search and didn't find a definite answer.

 
I live in northern Ohio the weather is about the same. I had my bike in an attached garage (not heated) last winter hooked to a battery tender. It started right up in the spring. You could always start it every now and then, and dream about riding in the south

 
I live in Iowa and we have winters like yours, sometimes 10-15 below. I rotate one battery tender between two bikes and a lawn tractor and never have a problem in the spring. Please don't be one of those who starts their bike and then turns it off. If you are going to start it make sure it really gets warmed up or better yet take it for a ride. Or better yet, don't start it and just use the battery tender.

Ditto here in NE Ohio. I have done this for years. Hook up the tenderizer in December and unhook it in March. I disagree about the occasional start up though. Have read that this does more harm than good with condensation in the top end and exhaust, and acid formation in the oil.
