Saturday morning I am going to take a second shot at IBA membership. In late June I was sitting on my bike at 4am ready to go when I suffered the catastrophic ground failure. A new wire harness, and a 4000 mile ride around the Great Lakes later, I am comfortable enough with the bike to try again.

This time I am going to ride to the Badlands. This is my planned route.

I haven't even considered a way back. Wave if you see me along the way.

Sounds like a great trip. I'm going to do a 1K ride going down to EOM for membership and will be honored to have a few fellow FJRForum members certify my arival time.

Let me know how you like your route or any changes you would do. I am going to hit the badlands next year, possibly on the way to Alaska.

well....I done it! :yahoo:

I left my home in the Florida Panhandle at 4 am alone on Saturday and rode 1038 miles (according to the Zumo) through B'ham, Memphis, Springfield & KC... landing in Mound City, MO. at 10:30pm. Here are some pics from the road:

Crossing the Mississippi at Memphis

Meeting a local in Arkasas. They must be pretty hard up to write me for 71 in a 55...but the Ozarks were fun!

Happy to leave Arkansas

The next morning I took off at 5:30am and turned dead west on I90 at Sioux Falls, SD. I arrived at Badlands NP after 1591 miles and 34 hours. After visiting the park I rode onto Sturgis, which put me well over 1700 miles for the 2 days. Treated myself to a BIG steak and a couple of Crowns. Pics from day 2:

Sturgis was having their big Sport Tour festival! :dribble:

Today (Monday) ...

I rode into Wyoming to visit the Devil's Tower.

Then back to Deadwood, SD...cool town! Ate lunch in a nice cafe.

Had a new front PR2 installed at Black Hills Powersports in Rapid City - Great guys had me in and out in 45 minutes.

Then onto Mount Rushmore & the Crazy Horse Monument.

And of course lots of great riding through the Black Hills.

2019 miles and lots of smiles in the book! Spending the night in Rapid City then striking out to the East.

I have an new found respect for the FJR. 4500 rpm's for hours on end and never a complaint. By the time I get home - and including my recent ride around the Great Lakes - I will have put over 8000 miles on her in the last 30 days. What a machine!

Dude! Get a job! Stay home for a while!

Seriously, that's some good ridin' lately. Certainly wish I could devote that kinda time to the road.

Big congratulations on your accomplishment. Badlands and the Black Hills are magical places. Great ride and great destinations! :)

Wow! Way to go!

I've been through Mound City, MO, not much there... ;)

Obviously a lot of us missed the Sport/Tourig Festival in Sturgis this year... :D

Very nice RR :clapping:

I really like this foto -

Congratulations on your big ride and even better RR!

OBTW, your CBA penalty fee is in the mail, please pay promptly?

Great job Mike! Good to see that you're still pounding out the miles and welcome to the IBA. Thinking of doing an IBA Ride Around Florida. It's about 1800 miles in 44 hours or less and touches all the corners of the state. What ya think?

Great Job ! :clapping: Love the pics. the cornfield had to have been Iowa?
your pics really captured the ride! I need to try that next ride.
It was Iowa. I have been across that state 3 tims in the last month and it is much nicer than I expected. I thought it would be like Kansas (no offense Kansas) but it is really beautiful. That morning was spectacular.

I have been in Florida for about 25 years now, but was born and raised in Iowa. The backroads are

terriffic. Most people know only the I80 (flat and boring) exposure. Glad you enjoyed your ride!

YOU SUCK! :yahoo:

Naw, really, you suck!

Ok, I admit, I'm just jealous :p

Awesome report! I'm in for the Florida Four Corners, whatever that is...
