Anybody got one of these Beadriders kicking around that they want to part with? The long, hot ride back from Maine convinced me I need to try something.
You can't have mine  I just got one a couple of weeks ago and love it so far. :yahoo: Took a little getting use to it and it is more slippery than a leather cover.

Go to Autozone or similar type store,

Buy a bead seat cover, cut and re-thread to size.

I made mine for about $7

I got a Bead Rider and it works pretty good; however, it's effectiveness does wear off after about 250 miles IMBHO.

Oh, I beg to differ. It's the long days when I really appreciate mine. The long, warm, sweaty days. And the days when that little massage you get when you move on the seat is most appreciated. It doesn't make the seat softer, by any means, but it doesn't make it harder either, just cooler, and drier.

I've had those coiled-spring seat mats in cars I've owned--vinyl seats in non-air conditioned old cars--and they made an amazing difference in comfort, so when I saw the Bead Rider I thought it looked like just the deal. I thought I'd feel air flowing under me like the car seat cushions give you, but I didn't. But I think it makes a big difference at the end of the day.

As for cutting down an Auto Zone-type pad, I considered that, but looking at the way they're stitched together I realized it would never hold up once I cut it. So for the forty bucks or so, I put on the B/R and it's lasted over two years and 30K or so miles and holding up well. A very good product.

I just got one about two weeks ago and I gotta say, I'm not totally sold on it. So far it's a push compared to the stock seat. It will probably shine a little more when it gets hotter but a 400 mile day I did on it was not very inspiring. I do like that I can slide around more easily in the twisties. You might want to try BugR's suggestion before you go with the BeadRider.

I'm with SactoMike on this one. My Bill Meyer seat is comfortable for the first 700 miles or so each day, but adding the Beadrider made it comfortable all day long - including my recent 22+ hour BBG ride. I won't leave the county without it now.

I'm working under the assumption that it couldn't make it any worse so I guess its worth a try. Roger came through with one so my search is over. Thanks everyone for the input, me and my butt will let you know how it works out!

:D Not slamming them by any means...mine works great, but my butt starts to complain about it at around 250 miles. That probably has more to do with the fact that I have a stock seat underneath it... When the farkle budget regenerates, I'm really hoping to replace that seat.

Go to wingstuff.com bought two there one for fjr and one for 92 nighthawk, only 20 bones, last time free shipping combined mileage for both bikes in last 18 mos. 27,000, wouldn't be without the ass beads, its Funny the looks you get from the pumpkin posers ( Read Black/Orange)in their outlaw outfits. I guess it doesn't matter if you only ride bar to bar and put on 1000 miles a year. I do like their motto though Ride To Pretend, Pretend to Ride, Priceless!!!!!!
