Check out the spare crankshaft laying by the front tire.

Thanks, you guys.... Ahh, the golden years of grand prix racing (until now, that is).

Rad's MV Agusta is actually a road bike -- Hit the Road Jack's Moto Guzzi, not-so-much.... :)

The MVs won more races than anyone, AFAIK (even more than Gixxers....). The Remor designed in-line fours are still (kind'a...) with us today -- starting in the early '50s as Gileras and continuing thru the mid-70s with the awesome MV Agustas (in the process, eventually battling the Honda, Yamaha, et al).

The Ing. G.C.Carcano designed Moto Guzzi V-8 is really something -- an all-time great masterpiece. I actually went to Moto Guzzi service school at the Berliner wharehouse/HQ in Hasbrouk Heights NJ when the first V7s made their appearance in America (the first 700cc v-twins uncrated were ridden across the country and back to prove them). In the mechanic's classroom was a genuine Carcano M-G V-8 engine on a pedestal -- I spent a lot of time, in awe, looking at and wondering about that engine. In 1956 it was clocked at 168 mph in one of its races -- not bad for a 500cc bike!

Years ago, I had a riding buddy who rode a Guzzi 850 T-3. He bought it used and it had some unknown history. The neat thing (to me) was -- that it was painted that same shade of green that the Solvang bike is painted. That was Moto Guzzi's Grand Prix racing color -- something that most in the U.S. wouldn't know. I felt in the presence of greatness when I rode with him.... :)
