My best friend Brent in Boise, Idaho called today to see if I was interested in making this trip. The last fifty or sixty miles are graded gravel with 18 degree grades. Brent mad this trip on a chain drive 2000 1000cc Suzuki in 1981 and would like to do it again. There are a lot of videos of the trip on the web.

Let me know if you have made this trip.

Never took that route, but used to ride my Norton Commando on logging roads back in the day..

For the FJR, metal radiator guard and lexan headlight shields highly recommended

I rode to Bella Coola in 2006 on a 1000 V-Strom. There are 40 miles of gravel which includes the 20 mile section through the Park and the "hill". The 18 percent grades are a very small portion of the hill but there are multiple sections of 14 percent grades. Its a very good gravel road when it is not raining and fun to ride West to East because you are going uphill. An experienced rider should not have any problems on a FJR.....if the road is dry.

I want to thank Silver Spirit and MCRIDER007 for there helpful replies. If we go it will probably be in August and hopefully the weather could be dry.

Lot of caveats there and I wouldn't risk it on the FJR... check out the Super Tenere over the "for sale" section.
