Is there a great magnetic tank bag that’s just right for the FJR?

If I were I'd pounce on this offer...

I would <think> that it would fit very well. I can't speak to this directly as I run with a very well-executed Givi...

Good Luck with it!

Have one already… to small and have had problems with it wanting to fly off in heavy side winds

For commuting and short trips the Joe Rocket - Manta has served me well

and it's small profile along with strong magnets keep it secure.

google "magnetic tank bag site:fjrforum.com" or similar

google is your friend: ???????? site:forforum.com

I have 3 Nelson Rigg bags. Road all day in the rain and didn't even need the rain cover. The map started to get a little fogged up.

a very big bang for the buck...get them at www.newenough.com which is a great company owned and run by motorcyclists

Three diff bags of diff sizes: https://www.flickr.com/photos/mholiver/sets...57623737991809/

CL50 mini/micro - day rides

CL300 - medium - used the most these days

I have it "backwards" on the tank

I like the wide part toward me and the skinny/thin end toward the bars

CL350 - large/giant - overnight touring - I have it "backwards" on the tank

I like the wide part toward me and the skinny/thin end toward the bars

hope this helps

I really like my RKA.

Haven't used it since I got the Bagster (the magnets don't hold strong enough thru the tank cover) but actually prefer the RKA bag to the Bagster bag.

You're welcome to give it a try and see how you like it.

How about the one made by Yamaha for the FJR....available in Canada and other countries besides the U.S.?

I've worn out my first one after 135,000 miles of transcontinental warp travel and just bought my second recently.

Warm up your drug tank bag mule and look it up under accessories on the Canada Yamaha website.

+1 for the Rapid Transit Recon 19. Been using mine for 3 years with no problems and is just the right size. Will occassionaly hit the horn button during lock to lock parking lot manuevers if you have the bag positioned too far forward on the tank.

I liked the Manta XL a bit better and really like the size of it. Can store a bit of stuff, without being TOO big.

Doesn't interfere with grips on lock to lock turning and I picked mine up at a local dealer for $50, because he matched a price of one I found on Ebay.

I have been using a Tourmaster Cortech "mini" magnetic tank bag ever since I bought my FJR three years ago. It is an 8 liter bag that will expand to approximately 12 liter but I've not used it in that manner. It comes with a cover and a removable map case that can be used alone with the magnetic base. It also has a port with a waterproof "eyelid" for electronics and a good handle and carrying strap. It is basically the top half of the Tourmaster "tri-bag" and retails for about $80. I have almost 25k miles with the bag and have never had any problems with it moving around while underway. I don't use any paint protector on the tank, I just keep the dust wiped off and lift straight up when removing it.

I had very good luck with this Chase Harper bag in its magnetic incarnation:

Chase Harper 650

Then switched to this one that mounts to a ring around the gas cap:

S W Motech "City”

The switch was made for several reasons but the primary reason was that the magnets caused interference in my Starcom set-up if I ran the wire under the tank bag. Both bags work great as tank bags. The Chase harper has bungees and a "Camelback-type" bladder for water or whatever you might prefer to ingest for hydration,

I'll second the vote for the Yamaha-made bag. It seems to hold everything imagineable even without unzipping the built-in extension that makes it yet another two inches deeper.

I just used my Canadian FJR bag for the first time on a long trip. I did not use the safety strap and never felt that it even thought about flying off. It is tall so a stem mounted GPS needs a long arm. My view of the speedo is blocked so I had to rely on feel or the local radar gun.

I have an original that was offered from 2003-2006. It is one of the best tank bags I have ever owned!
