Best place to buy a watch?

I am looking for a new watch. Thinking about a Tissot or Swiss Army. My price point is $500. Been to some local jewelers and found a pretty poor selection. Online - things open up quite good. So... online watch retailers... OK? Amazon seems to have good prices.

Any thoughts mates?

I've got a 10 yr old Titanium Eco Drive that I have worn every day since I got it...needs a new battery (they do only last so long). Got a Casio from Sam's Club for $28.00 to wear till I get the Citizen fixed

As I look into watches - I can see how one could get a bit obsessed with these little marvels of precision engineering. Tis a bit like motorcycles. And that makes me and MY WIFE a bit worried.

I have an Invicta automatic,Model 6086 Swiss pro diver. You can find them online at ShopNBC.com. It was listed near $900 MSRP (which is rumored to be inflated!), and their normal price was near $500. I got it for under $200! If you look for awhile, you can find the last of a color or model and get a great deal.

This is a massive watch and bracelet. Took a bit to adjust to the heft, but very fun to wear as I get tons of comments!

I used to always wear seiko's, but kept breaking the bands. For the same price I can have two of these!

Just be careful as it can probably trigger another addiction! Happy hunting!

I'm not alone then My watch compulsion has served me well. Used to get mine from jewelers but seems they can't compete with the likes of Sears and Kohls any more. Deb got my last Seiko Kinetic from Kohls and was pleased with the price.

Casio G Shock baby. Not as sexy but man do they hold up! This is what I wear. Waterproof, tough as hell, and the time is always 100% accurate because it sets to the atomic clock at Fort Collins, CO. It also charges the battery via sunlight so the battery lasts for a while.

Jeez, I'm with Wheatie. If I WERE going to buy an expensive watch, It'd be one of those Rolex Oyster Submariners. Good tough, heavy, solid watch. You know, the kind James Bond used as a set of brass knuckles. Here's one. Only $26,460.

But I don't wear a wristwatch. Not after the advice Peter Fonda, as Damien Blaine, offered up at the end of "Wild Hogs." Remember? "Lose the watches." :lol: :lol: :lol:

p.s. Edited to add: Just happened to stumble upon this. Note what Fonda does at about the 12-second point. Fun-to-watch intro or trailer for "Easy Rider." I wonder how many of us got our early moto wanderlust fired up watching this flick?

+100 on the G-Shock. I have some (to me) very expensive watches, but I have gone to wearing the G-Shock 99.9 % of the time, after paying several thousand dollars to have watches repaired and serviced.
