ouch....

although the idea sounds cool.....2 hours ride on a 2gb card would be cool and 16 hours on a 16 gb would work well for the ld community and those weekend get aways....

Yeah the price is interesting.....being able to connect to the star com i already have would be cool,I would be more than happy to test and post for folks if you are interested.....

:clapping:

Actually I think 2 hours would be plenty of time even on a long ride such as the Iron Butt Rally.

I've had this grand idea of creating a video blog of my experience during the Iron Butt Rally. The setup would be similar to what Biodsl (aka Paul) did by calling in and leaving audio messages. I would sit there and either have the camera record me, or the road I'm on and I could leave commentary. Maybe talk about the road, the horrendous rain, or that my left cheek has been itching for the last 20 miles and I don't know why.

This setup has two issues, one of which is how to record this while getting a good audio input. This solves that problem. The other problem is how to upload it online in a quick and efficient manner. I could just post the video later, thats always an option too.

Unfortunately, this setup is just a tad too expensive for me at the moment. I have plenty of things I need to pay for before I start looking at things I want to have.

That is a rediculous price. That is less than $200 in hardware. You are simply being gouged by the interface. Digital camcorders are less than $100 plus cards, and those cams are less than $50 all over the net.

Regular digital camcorders are, but the miniature palm-size DVR units like this are still in the $500 range. Not that I'm saying they *should* be, just that they are. Google on "micro dvr" and see what prices come up. And no, I won't be buying any myself until the prices come down.

Nope.

Here's one of many examples - you can even get them at walmart for around $100 now.
