When I bought my FJR in October and added it to my policy (Progressive Insurance) , it seemed a little high to me ($458/yr, full coverage) since it was more than I was paying for my R1 with the same coverage. I just figured it was because it was a big heavy bike with expensive-to-replace hard luggage. Besides, $458/yr isn't awful...so I just let it go at that.

Well now that all my policies are coming up for renewal, I get my notice and they've virtually cut that premium in HALF! The FJR went down to $241/yr for full coverage and the total policy premium for the FJR and the Derbi is $320/yr for full coverage on both! Obviously I'm not complaining about getting off so cheap, but it once again makes me feel like they overcharged me for the first half year of coverage on the FJR.

Of course I'm afraid to call and ask why, lest they say "oops" and raise this year's premiums, rather than credit me back for any possible mistake on last year. Insurance is waaaaay too much like taxes sometimes. You just have to shut your mouth and pay it. Again, I realize I don't have alot of room to *****, since I'm sure alot of people are paying alot more than I (occasionally, it's good to live in Ohio). The whole thing just has to make me wonder. <_< <_< <_<

Don't say nuffin man, yep thats what I'd do.

I had an incident 10 years ago, couple a beers and a tailight out in a borrowed truck, Impaired driving arrest.

I never informed my insurer of it and my rates never moved. Sometimes ya just get lucky :D

Perhaps Progressive has finally built up enough data to classify it as a S-T instead of a sport bike. When I approached them toward the end of 2002 for my then-new Feejer, they wanted $1600.00 to insure it at 100/300/50 with 250 deductible. Dairyland covered it for about $450. The next year D went down to $400. It's now $275.00 a year with the same coverage.

Just curious. Did you make the first year without a claim? Obviously you didn't die. I suspect that the first year for many companys is higher as they sort out the squids. In fact on agency all but said so when they told me that the second year would probably be cheaper if there were no claims. Wish I could remember who that was, I think progressive. I wound up going with Geico. So far so good. I hope my second year there goes down as much.

Been with Progressive for about 14 years now. No claims for at least the last five.

I was with progressive for 5 years on my vstar at a very good rate around $500.

When I went to change it over to the fjr they wanted like $2000. There was no way I could justify that kind of money, even reducing my coverage was still around $1600 and I just wasn't prepared for that.

So I gave Dairyland a call and for around $260 I got coverage. Now my coverage is lower than with progressive but the state minimums here are like 10/50/10 and progressive even at those numbers was ridiculously high.

Look around, sometime Progressive is the lowest, sometimes they're not :D

I did a online quote for an 06 FJR thru Progressive (State min, req,) w/$1,000.00 deductible $ 271.00 per year.

I had Progressive for the first year of my FJR then Allstate beat their price so I went with Allstate. I'll have to compare prices again, maybe Progressive is low man on the totem pole now.
