While down to Roatan Honduras for a friend's wedding I took a few pics of the bikes that I saw while on the island. There were quite a few of these little FZ Yamahas running around.....

A local told me that most of these FZ's are 150cc though there is a 200cc Rat Motor kit available. I found the specs on the Yamaha India site if you are interested.

The biggest bike that I came across was a '82 650 Yamaha Seca running dualsport rubber....

If you saw the roads on the island you would understand the tire choice. According to the locals there are a few Harleys on the island though most are owned by ex-Americans now living on the island.

The other bikes I came across were brands I am not familiar with. I think this one was trying to pass itself off as a KTM....

Almost all of the newer bikes that I saw had enduro bike styling...

Though this one was going for the cruiser look....

While on the island I did take a little time to get some seat time in on a "Big Red" Artic Cat.....

ATGATT though I'm not sure what the proper safety gear would be appropriate in this situation....

Just a baby boa sunning itself on the trail.

When I visited Seoul a few years ago, I asked why there were so few large displacement bikes. Has to do with import tariffs on the foreign makes, and taxes on large-displacement bikes, which make them unaffordable except to the wealthiest riders. Chinese and Korean bikes with lower displacement were everywhere.

When we were doing the Cherohala Skyway this summer we ran across an Irish guy test riding a mid 90's Goldwing and he was planning on taking it back to an Island off the coast of Honduras? I have no idea which island though.

Hey, Bill! I was on Roatan Island about 14 months ago saw the same kind of bikes...all small displacement (by out standards) and mostly dual purpose looks. I do not remember seeing the little FZ's though!
