I made an appointment with Bill Mayer Saddles for Monday morning. I got there a little before 7 am when they opened and everyone promptly arrived on time. Sue who runs the office got things moving and Adrian made me a cup of coffee. Over the next three and one-half hours I spent reading, watching and being fitted for the seat. I got to watch the entire process and see the craftsmanship that goes into making a custom seat. Adrian had me sit on it in different stages of completion and had me take it out without the cover and ride for about ten to fifteen minutes. More slight adjustments and then the leather went on. The experience was informative and insightful. The seat fit beautifully... I rode from Ojai back to Fairfield without discomfort.

I highly recommend this vendor. I know several of you ride with Bill Mayer seats and I now know why. Rocky (Bill's son who now owns the business after Bill died) who showed up and then rushed off, had been at Moto GP in Monterey that weekend and had been running a special of 15% off. Sue was nice enough to give me the discount. If you call her she might give it to you.

The experience and product were excellent and I highly recommend them and their seats.

Like Dr. Rich, I had a ride in appt at Mayer Saddles in May,

in just over 1 hr, my new Mayer Saddle was ready, and my

joy was abundant, my ride back to the coast was like being

on a new motorcycle, Rick knows his craft, fits the saddle to

the rider and stands by his work, I am impressed!

+1 on the whole experience. Must admit I didn't like my seat at first but as it got settled in (as I was warned that it would do), I stopped even thinking about the seat. I have thousands of miles done on the seat, and no problems with comfort.

The ride-in appointment was a pleasure. Andy and I spent half a day, watching the work being done, sunbathing, playing with the dogs and reading motorcycle magazines. We were plied with coffee, and then lunch. We each left with a complimentary t-shirt too.

A couple of years later, I had a problem with a staple poking through the side panel of the seat. I called Rocky and he said to ship the seat back to him for evaluation. It was back within the week, as good as new.

This is a quality operation, well worth doing business with.

I too love my Bill Mayer saddle.

From now on, BMS is where I go when I need a custom saddle.

Bill Mayer Saddles? Rick Mayer Cycles (Saddles)

My mistake for the alcohol induced confusion,

I went to Rick Mayer Cycle for my Saddle, located

in Anderson, Calif, they may be related, as Rick

talked about growing up in the south end of the

state, and doing alot of desert riding.

Nonetheless, I am ga-ga over my new seat!

I have used, and appreciated, my Bill Mayer saddle for several years. On this last trip, however, one of the seams opened up. Upon closer ispection it appears that the stitching held but that the leather tore where it is "creased" on the inside of the seam. It is going to be interesting to see how the repairs, and cost of the repairs, are handled. I will post more when the problem is resolved (which might take a couple of weeks as I am not yet sure if I will ride in or use the mails to get the saddle to Ojai).

I ended up sending my saddle to Ojai via UPS. I exchanged emails about the problem with Bill. The saddle was promptly repaired and returned to me and, while the repair was not covered under warranty, BMS did work with me to keep the cost of the repair reasonable. Continue to count me as a satisfied client.

Same experience for me as well. I had a ride in a couple of weeks ago and they did an outstanding job

were kind helpful and I just love the new seat. You don't realize how good it can be till your sitting on

a custom fitted saddle.

What is the warranty on a Bill Mayer Saddle? Just curious why he wouldn't cover it?
