Got a e-mail from a friend, said Billy Lane was involved in a fatal accident, where he was seriously injured. Anybody confirm this?

Big thread Here, started by a paramedic who was on scene. Short story, he's drunk, in his P/U, passes on double yellow, nails and kills scooter rider. Details yet to be confirmed. News stories more or less ignore dead guy, focus on poor famous Billy. Puke material abounds.

Note my post at 11:00 and Rad's post at 10:59. After I posted, Rad's 'rest of the story' popped up for me. Bad stuff this is.

I believe that Billy has the resources to make an honorarium payment to the family of the deceased and should be able to avoid spending any significant time away from the shop. Appears to be his first offense. A foolish mistake on his part.

Are you saying that this is what you think? Or, that this is what you think will happen?

If he was over the legal limit - drunk, then he will be going to the pokey for a while. It varies by state, but that will be some sort of homocide or manslaughter.

If Billy Lane is at fault....he should be fried like anyone else....no special treatment because he's famous or infamous if you prefer.... :****: ....as TWN would say....

I was just making an observation of what probably will happen. Don't shoot me! I am just thinking about what probably will happen, not what SHOULD happen. Sorry if I came across the wrong way!!!!!!! :D

Here's a link to a news story in (online) Florida Today:

https://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...S/60905003/1086

Dammit..... he was released without arrest (pending blood alcohol levels) after crossing a double yellow and killing a guy on a moped, and hurting the passenger in his truck. The obligatory "he (moped rider) was wearing a helmet" and "street legal" crap. If Lane gets away with it I'll be ticked. Is Florida one of the states with more strict laws for killing bikers?

I doubt I or you would be let loose...

I've watched a couple of those "Biker build-off" shows. Responsible motorcycle riding behavior has never been part of their agenda. Do you think that he would be any different behind the wheel of a truck? It's sort of like Indian Larry. If you ride a motorcycle without a helmet while standing on the seat, bad things can happen. At least Larry (God rest his soul) only took himself out. Whether he was drunk or not, Billy Lane trying to pass two cars on a double yellow is enough. Man Slaughter or vehicular homicide should be the charge at the very least. Of course we all know what happened to that politician out west somewhere that killed a motorcyclist. Nothing.

If the facts of this case are true, Billy should get ready to get pokied in the pokey for a long while. The Discovery channel should do a special on the consequences of irresposible behavior.

Stupid is as stupid does...
