Yesterday was our Nevada County (California) 24th annual toy run and as usual there was 1,200 plus bikes. Black is the key color here, many bovine lost their coats to protect this bunch.
However I did count a couple 13's and 3- 05's . Our good friends Rob and Terrie were there but I never did see them, just their bike.
Well after an hour of loud pipes saves lives I dropped off the kid gift and headed for a favorite ride in the "hill" country and some Green with my green machine.
I always like to stop at the 1930 suspension bridge over the North Fork of the American River on Yankee Jim's Road.
We picked up a good 5 inches of rain this week so conditions were excellent for the KLR on the back roads. So nice to see water in the falls, they were dry a few months ago. Not much yet but if El Nino has it's way this will be really flowing in a month or two.
The green moss was really happy, another good sign for this winter.
Not much room for error on these mountain roads but sure makes for fun riding.
Pictures never do elevation justice but that's a good 1,000 feet down to the American River.
Also I stopped at the world famous Iowa Hill country store for a picture. No power here, just the hum of the red generator. They have quite the collection of local rattlesnake skins on display but I kept moving as it was time to get home before the forest rats come out in masses.
My wishes for the New Year.
