FJR is my favorite bike. However, I use a GL1500 for long distance 2-up (possible blasphemy, I know). been thinking a lot about picking up a boxer twin as a replacement for the Gold Wing.

I want to do a lot of research 1st and am looking for sources.

comments are welcome. thx. in advance for any help.

Try:

bmwmoa.com and bmwsporttouring.com

PM Beemerdon.

If he doesn't ask you for a date, he might have some good info to share.

Aren't there any old R90/6 bikes around?

oldryder: Give consideration to contacting BMW Motorcycle Owners Club #49 of Minnesota. Their Club President is Karol Patzer, a well known Iron Butt Rally competitor, and a friend of FJR Forum Admins Warchild, SkooterG and Ignacio. They have regular weekend rides and Meets to Eat. Their phone number is 612-534-RIDE and they have a club meeting in Eagan, MN the 2nd Thursday of each month. Some really nice MN folks! https://www.bmwmocm.com/

Rent one for at least a day. Call the local Beemer dealers and check with EagleRider for Minneapolis or just about any other city. If you're looking used, make sure to get one with the same style of new vs old switch gear for the turn signals.

I appreciate the Beemers, rent them somewhat regularly with my travels, and that they do everything with mechanical efficiency quite well, but so far they are just that. Mechanically efficient and not something that I want to own.

thx for tip. will do!
