Brake rotors

My neighbor biught new "petal" rotors from Galpher for his ZX10. He did not realy need them, but he gets a deal on there stuff and thought they looked cool. He just commutes no racing. He has put 15K on them and one of the rotors is shot. Extremem loosness in the rotor to carrier rivet buttons. To replace those "rivets", Galpher wants $9 a piece for each button. So are those racing rotors really a good idea? Maybe not. Please comment on thisa subject if you have knowledge on this subject.
